Smile Campsite electric hookup does not align

We've been to 2 campgrounds, both Ohio state parks, where we are unable to plug into the campsites electric box. The cut out on the bottom of the box is offset from the receptacle we need to use to plug in. It occurs whether we have our surge protector on the end or not.
Does this happen at a lot of camps?
Is it acceptable to bend the box so we can use it? (That's what we have done, bending back when we leave).
If not what options do we have to use the electric service?
We're going to Maumee Bay State Park next week and we had to bend the box last year.
Thanks

You do not have to route the power cable through the cutout. You can simply leave the box cover slightly ajar. Some pedestal boxes do not have cutouts.

Yes, that is correct, but the head on the cord will not fully insert prongs into receptacle. The angle the cord has to take downward and over the bottom of the box pulls it out, no matter where I bring it out of box.
I just wondered if it is just my power cord, or a common problem.
Perhaps the cord was not put together correctly?

What type of rig do you have and is it the factory electrical cord? I have camped at Maumee Bay State Park for years with several different tt's and have never had any problem with the electrical hook up. I just returned from camping there yesterday. I would suggest getting a different electrical cord.

I have 30 amp service which is typically the middle outlet at the state parks around me. The boxes only have two cutouts. One to either side of the 30A outlet. I don't have any problems plugging in fully and having the chord exit via one of the cutouts. I would have problems if I just took it straight down as the chord would tend to pull the bottom of the plug away from the socket.

Cord is original install.
I have no pictures now, but will take a few next week if we have this problem again.
Thanks all!

Is the plug a 90 degree or does it come straight off the cord?
