Since I am the wife, yes camping gear would be a welcomed gift.

I always thought

I always thought it was about how 'naughty' or 'nice' she has been through the year.....

(having said that - jewelry is a good bet)

Your father was a wise man. Do yourself a favor and trust his advice.

I love this question. Yes, it is OK to buy your wife a gift associated with the camping lifestyle that we all enjoy. Last year I bought her a Cardinal 3250 Fifth Wheel. She was overjoyed! It is the first place we have owned where we actually go "upstairs" to bed!!

This year she's getting a personalized door mat.

The key is you have a personal gift for her, in addition to the practical one. That’s ok. It’s when the only gift is for house cleaning that things might get sticky.

I like the heated blanket and heated socks idea provided by others. Can you provide any other camping related ideas that are personal?

A new backup camera while nice and useful would be a great gift for me... but not for her.

Thanks!
Ron

I’m a DW and I’m pretty sure-hopeful- I’m getting a Hughes Autoformer for Christmas and I’m really happy. I’m more concerned about that sort of thing than some ... who shall remain un-named here.

My DW saw an "Extend-A-Line at a rally earlier this year and said she really wanted one - it was a great idea. I took a picture of it and the box it came in (thanks to the folks camping next to us). Well, she never got around to buying one. So it will be under the Christmas tree...

Wish me luck!

If I want to be neutered, I'd get her some camping stuff. Since I'm close enough to that naturally, I'll stick with things ladies like.
NO MATTER WHAT SHE SAYS, SHE DOESN'T WANT CAMPING STUFF!

My wife would be delighted with a new diamond ring to wear camping.

Does that mean you will be happy to receive a bag of tent pegs and a mallet?

That's funny, I did much the same thing at Xmas of 2015, I bought her a Heritage Glen 28 RLT, I picked the style (5'er) she picked the model. It was a perfect match for the 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD LS she bought me for my birthday the preceding July.

For Xmas 2016 I gave her a washing machine. I got a set of new deep cycled batteries.

This Xmas she is getting a new control module for the air conditioner and I got a new multi-stage battery charger (both units failed during our last trip).

I bought my wife a broom at the Navy Exchange (with her standing there), and the girl checking us out asked if we needed a “paid” sticker on it. I told her no, she’d be riding it home. The girl didn’t know how to react. My wife just rolled her eyes.

I got her a vacuum cleaner one year - she DID ask for it. All depends on her. Good luck and

If my wife wanted something "frivolous" for our motor home, that she would we enjoy, I'd consider getting it as a gift. I bought her a fancy 115VAC electric "lap" blanket / throw she loves as a gift. I also bought her a companion 12VDC version to use in the passenger seat while we're on the road. Those are for her exclusive enjoyment so I feel it was an appropriate "camping related gifts" as they stay in the motor home. But the new MaxxFan Deluxe 7500K installed in the bedroom ceiling vent was my present...even though she holds on to the remote!

Actually, all this girl wants for Christmas is to get our TT back from the shop. DH hit the awning and back upper corner into a tree back in September, so after waiting for insurance to agree to pay, having it repaired, then finding out they forgot to add paint repair for scratches on the outside and wall repair inside, we are still waiting. We have a trip planned after Christmas and told them yesterday not to proceed if they can’t have it done by then. It will have to go back after, but we haven’t been able to use it in almost three months, so we are anxious to go!
