Can Wives receive Camping Christmas Gifts?

Years ago my Father told me, "Son, never buy a gift for your wife that is related to housework like a Vacuum Cleaner, Washing Machine or Dish Washer. If you need those things, just buy them, but never make them a gift for Birthday, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day or Anniversary". He would always add... "Trust me, I know".

So my question, Are there acceptable Camping related Christmas gifts for Wives?

Thanks for your thoughts.
Ron

Sure, I don’t see why not, especially if she commented on something while camping (and you were listening).

Your Dad was right...and mine said the same thing.

If my wife wanted something "frivolous" for our motor home, that she would we enjoy, I'd consider getting it as a gift. I bought her a fancy 115VAC electric "lap" blanket / throw she loves as a gift. I also bought her a companion 12VDC version to use in the passenger seat while we're on the road. Those are for her exclusive enjoyment so I feel it was an appropriate "camping related gifts" as they stay in the motor home. But the new MaxxFan Deluxe 7500K installed in the bedroom ceiling vent was my present...even though she holds on to the remote!

Lol. They are to me. I have bought my DW more than one camping items for gifts. Sheets, plaques, nick-nacks, etc. She nearly always gets me camping stuff.

I am also a practical gift person(and we have little money) so practical gifts are just a good reason to get stuff she needs. Ie... stuff she will use. YMMV

Like you, DW could buy me a flashlight and a bag of bungee and I'd be happy. If I bought my wife sheets for the camper, I'm pretty sure I would not be around to enjoy those sheets next camping season.

You can never go wrong if it’s time to upgrade “her” campfire chair.

Any improvement to enjoying the outdoors works.

Everyone's family situation is different........ Dad got Mom practical things .... may have involved work ..... We got an orange and a stick of gum as a gift............... We grew up poor as did the DW, she grew up on a farm with an outhouse when they moved there. Grew and canned most of their food.

So for us practical things mixers, toaster, tools etc. are fine........ Mom and Dad have been married 66 years my wife and I have to have been married 34 years........... works for us.............................

Our DIL believes in only personal gifts....... they get opened thrown in a closet and never see light of day again.....sad.

Camping gifts are always good at our house. For our 11th wedding anniversary, we took delivery of our Surveyor!

For our birthdays that are only a few days apart, deluxe camping chairs.

We will see what christmas brings. We are pretty well outfitted but are still getting little things for the family to enjoy.

Lol. Wives can be different. We are pretty humble.

I showed the DW some camping pjs that Walmart had(saw it on here??) she promptly went to Walmart and found some. Wears them all the time camping or not...mostly not of course.
