I still don't understand why so many folks can't start their a/c in eco mode with two EU2000s. We routinely have the a/c start with ours in eco mode. Has to be something else going on.
Ours are 11 years old (before the companions) and have an add-on 30amp parallel kit, but I wouldn't think that would make a difference.

If the temp is under 75 degrees, I can start my AC in ECO mode. Some compressors are simply harder to start than others. My last truck camper had a smaller AC that could run in ECO mode, but I still needed two generators running.
But in my case, the Progressive Industries voltage monitor cries wolf when the compressor cycles and the voltage gets too low and could damage some electrical components.
I work out of my trailer with lots of sensitive equipment and can't take that chance.
I've been in RV parks with very poor electrical hookups where the AC pulls voltage down to a dangerous level. This device will stop that.
I love the idea of one generator, running quiet and using less fuel.

^^ what he said. My PI kicks it out from the voltage drop. Guess I could always try bypassing since I am on generators anyway

I just got back from a short trip "into the woods" during the hottest weather we've experienced here since records started being kept.
I pulled into the NF campground withe the thermometer in the high 90's. Tried to start the A/C with my Champion 3500 W Inverter generator and it went into overload. No joy. Still wouldn't start the A/C, even with Economy Mode off.
On a hunch I turned off the converter. BINGO, A/C Started, even on Economy mode. Turning off the Converter took off the load of the Refrigerator as well as any charging current going to the Batteries (which were downenough to go into max charge after running out slide and operating tongue jack. I also believe that the heat soaked A/C unit needed some extra juice to start the compressor.
Once the A/C had run a while I switched on the Converter and all was fine. All night long and the next full day the A/C cycled with the Inverter running in Ecomomy Mode.
Next time I'll just run the A/C a while to get the system cycling regular then switch on the Converter. Based on the A/C performance as well as generator once the A/C had cycled for a while, I don't plan on adding any "starting kit" to my A/C unit.

Let me ask a dumb question, when your Honda's are hooked up running and it starts to rain, do you put something over them to keep the rain off them? I saw someone that had a pair of Honda's in the bed of his truck with nothing to protect them from rain

Aw... what's $150 for a tent when your spending thousands for Hondas.
Save the umbrellas for those who buy Champions!

Actually more. I just "rounded down" in case someone found one on sale.
Yes, the gentent is "storm resistant" so it's good for someone who's running the generator during or after a Hurricane power outage. I run mine in the bed of my pickup and if in a storm I can "tent" the generator with a couple pieces of 2X3 lumber, a $10 tarp and some tie-downs to protect it from wind/rain yet still provide plenty of air circulation.
I like to avoid nasty weather and so far have only camped one time when I needed a generator in a storm. Was in a full hookup facility in Idaho when the whole area lost power. Even water as the main pump was down.

I usually have them on a small pallet (to keep them out of the dust/mud), and the pallet has removable supports on it so I can place a small tarp over them while not impeding air flow. See pic in post #23.
Having said that, I have run them several times in heavy rain and snow without the tarp. Doesn't seem to phase them a bit. I do prefer to cover them though. Out here it's mainly to keep the sun off of them

I have this model and it works great in ECO.
