Hello campers,
Wondering what peoples experience as been camping at Cedar Point Ohio. There is a campground right next to the park. Looking at staying there for our yearly 1 week trip (not going to park everyday) campground recommendations? anything else to do in the area? will have a 9 and 1 year old with. Its a 9 hour drive so before booking anything looking for idea from the group.

KOA...have never stayed but heard it is nice. Kalahari water park is great but a big part of it is indoor so we tend to go there in the winter and I have never been in the summer.

That is where we always stay when going to Cedar Point but not for a whole week, they are not cheap but the campground is very nice. There are mini golf, go cart tracks and other touristy things to do away from Cedar Point. Might be worth it to camp there to do the park and else where for outside things. I have heard there are a few state parks that are nice in the area. Good luck and have fun.

East Harbor State Park Lakeside, OH is large and affordable and not too far from Cedar Point... Google maps says about a 30 minute drive. There are several hundred campsites and something is almost always available.

There are a thousand things to do in the Port Clinton to Sandusky area that kids would like. Not to mention taking a boat ride to Kelly's Island and grabbing a golf cart to ride around the island for a day. Used to always take the kids fishing in the quarry on the island where the bluegills give them a great time catching little fish one right after another. Use a short cheap pole, small hooks and a bobber and pieces of worm, or even sun-dried lunch meat. Glacial grooves in the rocks on the islands to see. Grab a brochure when you get in that area, or do some google research before you go.

Another thing would be to take the Jet Ferry from Port Clinton to South Bass Island... neat way to travel and there are many sites to see on the lsland including Perry's monument where you can see for miles around the lake.

Have fun in that area!

Our family use to have a seasonal at Bayshore and its minutes from the park. East Harbor State Park is also very nice.

We stayed there a couple years ago but only for a few days. Convenient but not cheap.
