I am not familiar with this one personally but would just like to mention that it
will be LOUD. Much like a riding lawn mower at full throttle.
If you and your neighbors can live with that, it should be OK.

I own one, I like it. It's quieter than most others at the race track and runs my trailer just fine. I have 1 air conditioner (13500) and all the lights, TV's, etc. Seems to struggle a little running the air and micro at the same time, it'll do it though.

LOUD>>>>>>>>>>>>> ok, for race track camping. (Racing cars loud !!) Aaaaaaa wouldn't want to use it at a camp ground or State Park. Your neighbors will kill you at a regular at camp ground !! It will run everything you want though...........!!!

We have had one for two years now and love it. Runs everything (not all at once) including our 15k air conditioner. It is louder than a Honda 2000 or 3000. Honda doesn't make a 4k version so we can't compare apples to apples. We just camped 35 days (all of July and part of June) in a state park without power hookups. Parking the generator at the back of the trailer you could barely detect it running. I've had several campers come over and check out the Champion and were impressed with the noise level. Over the years we have camped next to many campers with Honda generators, IMO the only one that we couldn't hear running was the Honda 1K, the 2k and 3k although quieter than the Champion were louder. If I had money to burn I would buy the Hondas but now $300 for the Champion versus 2 Honda 2000 at about $2,200 hmmmmm?

Most stabdard generators need to run thru a line conditioner to run digital electronics.. that is why The honda inverter gen is so much $$ it can safely run sensitive equipment.

you have to choose what's important, quiet or price. you can't have both.
the Champion is much louder than inverter generators, like the Honda or Yamaha. that's why they cost more.
but Champion is quieter than most open-framed contractor generators.

i've heard a Champion and personally, it's too loud for a campground. i have a Honda 2000 to compare it to.
if you boondock, it's a perfect buy for that.

quiet isn't cheap so it's your choice.

From the reviews on the Camping World web site on the Champion 4000 watt generator.

Great Generator for the price.

This is a great generator for the price. It is a little noisy for a small campground or close camping areas. Like most people I got it started on the first 3-4 pulls. Ran like a champ. Had to try out my 13.500 A/C and it powered up with no problem. I really recommend the wheel kit for it.

Great Generator. Little heavy and pushes the noise limit. Used in the mountains and it powered what I needed. Put a wheel kit on it and you can use around home on off season. In the meadow several trailers had a wide range of generators and this wasn't that much noiser. For the price and a starter generator you can't go wrong. Put it on a cargo hauler on back of trailer and just plugged in the 30amp cord. Started on the second pull.

Well built generator, excellent power, great value; but not for campgrounds. Way too loud . My wife compared it to having a lawn mower running next to our trailer. Returned it and bought the Honda 2000i.

Runs my 13,500 BTU A/C great. I can run everything else except the microwave at the same time. Voltage is spot on and the fuel guage is a nice a nice touch. Pretty quiet for a non inverter style. Looks to be well built. Started on the fourth pull out of the box and on the first everytime after. The wheel kit is a must. The best generator out there for the price.

Is this unit harmful to any equipment ?? fridge ,ac, converter ?? Or the TV, computers , etc ??? How often do people have to use generators at campgrounds that lose power due to storms or are these only for dry camping situations ???

I have champion and Honda 2000. Both are great units and both have a place in life. The Champion is louder than the Honda. Like others stated not as load as others. Get the generator running then turn on what you want to run. Biggest draw first wait till gen return to high speed then the next item etc. You will have no problem using you computer. The problem comes into play when your almost maxed out on power. There was no inverters years ago. Just regular ones. Worked then will work now. Remember to turn everything off prior to disconnecting the gen, this will protect you from low voltage. Good luck. If you worried about noise do a search on the net. There is a company that sells some cover that gets great reviews about 80.00. The champion is no louder that a truck with a ref running. It's quieter the that. Enjoy.

Yes the champion could damage digital equipment.
