Check your RV OFTEN!!
We keep out RV in a old campground out community use to run. Now just a nice gravel lot. No electric or water at sites, but does have a dump station and potable water.
Well one of the folks that keeps their RV there to, does NOT come by ofter and this is what we saw.
A VERY large hornets nest!! This is a good reason to check on your RV often.

Not to mention mice! I have had them in my engine before. Peppermint oil on cotton is supposed to repel them. I am also trying these out:
http://www.amazon.com/Fresh-Cab-Rode...ouse+repellant
It's a cedar/herbs blend that mice don't like.
One of my friends uses BOUNCE on the engine. She recommends reminding yourself with a note so you don't start the engine first without removing the BOUNCE.

Oh we have used "Fresh Cab" bags for years. We have (knock wood) NEVER had an issue with mice. MAtter a fact gave some bags to a freinds mom who's motorhome had mice.
We will see how they work in her rv.

When I bought my rig the dealer put screens over outside vents. Also cover the AC's if they get in there they could make a mess..

I didn't have cruise control. Starting digging into the stuff under the hood, pulled the radiator recovery tank, critter nest and chewed wires. At least it was an easy fix.

As nasty as the inhabitants of that nest are, you really do have to admire the beauty of the finished product and workmanship that went into its build quality.
Maybe they could teach the RV industry a few building tips....LOL!!!

The day we picked-up our TT, we had our 3 boys with us for the PDI. When the mechanic warned us about the damage mud daubers can do & asked if I wanted him to install the screens, I declined because they were over-priced. However, one of my sons took what he said to heart. He hovered over me while I ordered the screens online & then anxiously waited for the package to arrive. He bugged me hourly until I installed them & only relaxed when all screens were in place!
Later that summer I installed Maxxis tires. After I forgot to stop & re-check my lug nuts 10 miles out & consequently damaged a rim, I made him the son in charge of making sure we inspect all lug nuts prior to leaving... He bugs & bugs until I check each one. Gotta love how the camping experience helps teach kids responsibility. Some day he will have his own car & I know that he will take care of it...

Had the same problem last summer. I found at the local hardware store a can of hornet and wasp nest killer. It has a strong jet when pressed allowing for a long distant shot. Thing is you have to get a bunch of the stuff inside the hole to be effective. Don't wait around and see if it works, just run. Scrapping the nest off later on, 1-2 hours is easy enough, but make sure there is nothing left inside.
Good luck.

I place dog/cat flee collars inside all the exposed openings works great. And I live in the country and have hornets all over.

If the nest is active, use the hornet spray at night so they are all inside the nest. If the weather have been below freezing for a while they'll be dead anyway.
