cleaning mildew from awning

I messed up and packed up in the rain last time out (about 3 weeks or so). When I went last week, I let out the awning and to my dismay, it was heavily mildewed (or is it mold?). I've tried a solution of bleach /water but it has only worked partially. I even tried mopping the solution on, rolling up the awning for an hour then unrolling (youtube) and no go.

Anyone have any good suggestions as to what works??? Vinegar???

Add a little Dawn dish soap to the mixture....spray it on...roll up and let it sit for about 30 minutes.

I have also found the Awesome cleaner from the dollar store mixed with a little "car wash" soap works well. Follow the steps above then scrub with a soft bristle brush.

Well, I got it about 90-95% clean. First, I put undiluted white vinegar in a garden sprayer and sprayed underneath and top and rolled it up for an hour or so. I unrolled and took a long handled brush and tried brushing it, but didn't appear to do much good. Next I put a 3-1 mixture of hot water and chlorine bleach along with a healthy squirt of Dawn.

I applied with same method as the vinegar. Rolled it up and let it sit for hour and half. I unrolled and a lot was gone. I went over it with the brush again the rinsed well and let air dry. I'm calling it done, lol

This topic has been previously discussed before in this forum, with many good suggestions on how to clean the awning. I suggest you do a search and read up on the different methods, and cleaners used with good results, as I recall.
