Coffee

I'm just a handful of days away from taking delivery of my Rockwood A122 hard side pop up and I'm really enjoying planning the first outing.

There shall be coffee. I happen to have a spare Keurig which I'll probably take along however the A122 is pretty space challenged and the Keurig isn't.

How do some of you get your coffee fix at the campsite? I have thought about running to Walmart or hitting Amazon and getting a hotel sized coffee maker but I'm not sure that's the answer either.

Mr Coffee 5-cup. Wally World or Big Lots. Less than $20.00

Bigger trailer would help. Just kidding.
There is a lot of options out there if the number of cups isn't an issue and you should be able to settle on something that will suit you needs. Don't know how many do this, but when we were looking last winter for a new trailer, the first thing I looked for was...where do I put a coffee pot and where is the nearest plug in. Might seem crazy, but these manufactures get a little skimpy on counter space...even in the bigger trailers.

They do make a smaller size Keurig. There was one in the hotel room I stayed at when I was on a business trip last spring. I use a full size Keurig in my TT and store it in the sink when I'm traveling. I'm not sure where you can buy the small Keurig because I haven't looked. Maybe Amazon or a restaurant supply store.

We've got a fifth wheel with plenty of room, so I have a Bunn coffeemaker - just like my home coffeemaker. And, I have a Cuisinart burr coffee grinder at home and in the camper for the absolute best fresh-ground coffee.

I don't think of myself as a coffee "snob" but I do love the taste of very fresh-ground coffee.

How about a no plug pot? Coffee off the grid!

hagenseiker,

I use an enamelware percolator coffee pot so that when I boondock I can make coffee on my propane stove.

Like this one on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/GSI-Outdoors-...mel+coffee+pot

Just remember to get "percolator" not "drip" grind coffee. Drip grind in a percolator makes mud because the grind is too fine and the coffee cooks through the holes in the strainer inside the pot.

I like Starbucks Vienna Roast and they'll custom grind it for you if you ask.

Happy trails,

CTSS

I just checked Amazon and if you search for "Keurig Mini coffee maker" it comes up with 4 pages of small coffee makers and supplies.

That's what I use. It had a very small footprint and fits in my tiny sink for travel...

Coffee

We have a small one - Hamilton Beach I think for about $20 at Walmart.

Individual sized.

Uses the Keurig style coffee or can use a basket to brew normal grounds.

Actually found a good deal in the k-cups at Big Lots too - like 80 for about $18. Which is a good thing for as much coffee as I drink.

Has worked well this year but since the Turvis coffee cups work / fit under the hotel style of Keurig machines we will probably upgrade next season.

There is the small keurig where water is added for each cup. Then there is one with 40-ounce reservoir that is only 7 inches wide at the base. K200-plus series.

We just use a standard coffee maker that we picked up at Walmart. Got one with an insolated stainless steel pot specifically for the camper. I was a little paranoid about having a glass pot rolling around when traveling. It works out nice. We set it up on a timer to run in the morning, and just take the entire pot outside to the picnic table with us for breakfast. Unfortunately, the coffee maker died on us our last time out so we'll be shopping for a new one before spring.

Check Bed Bath & Beyond - they have a small 4 cup stainless one that takes the #2 cone filters. Had one in the house for a long time and is was not expensive.

The toaster would go before the Keurig. Pack it in the fridge next to the Beer.

Just to present another perspective...

We bought a cheap drip coffeemaker, but made sure it wasn't one with a swing-out basket.

I doubt we'll ever do any serious boondocking, but with the style we got, if we don't have electricity I can heat up water on the camp stove and pour the hot water through the filter.

Ours is an older version of this one:

Plus, our counter space is at a premium. The coffeemaker is always on a table under the awning. I kind of enjoy stepping out in the cool morning air to make / have coffee.

If I were into k-cups, I'd really want a Coffeeboxx

French press. Even though I have a 50amp unit, I don't like using extra electricity while camping if I can help it.

We have the smaller keurig and also a regular coffee maker. They both get used. we got a rolling stand for them we put beside the kitchen island. Counter space was kinda limited for our 40 trailer. Works though.
