Common Mistakes

This fellow has certainly made his share of mistakes. He probably could have saved himself from some of those mistakes if he would have read FRF first. I guess that's the drawback to owning something built by THOR industries.

Maybe this video will help someone who is just getting into RVing.

That guy has a lot of balls admitting his Duhs on youtube. Personally I'd save those for campfire chat over cocktails and a good chuckle.

I hope this guy is way behind me on the highway

My dealer did the screws threw the slide floor when moving the dinning table during a slide out adjustment on my Lacrosse. Thank God I caught it on my inspection of there work.
(Past experience taught me well)
They also did the screw threw the slide floor on my Tracer when doing repairs to my bench seating. This tore up the plastic threshold, snagged the carpet and cut the wiper seal.

But then again I always try to inspect all there work closely now.

I'm not sure why he would want to use wheel chocks while hitched up.

I too, wanted to store my pizza stone in the oven, but I found a safe way to do it. I cut four 6" long pieces from a pool noodle, cut a slit down one side of each piece, and slip them onto the stone. Just one of the many RV uses I have found for pool noodles.

Seeing things in retrospect always much clearer then when we initially do them. We store our pizza stone in the original box and have no trouble.

This guy should be the Poster Child for what happens when you don't have and don't follow a checklist.

Am I missing something in his video or does he have a FW ( wheel chocks) and a Motorhome (lug nut) ?

People pulling their slides in with making sure their captain seat is out of the way. I have made a few dollars with people making that mistake. here is a pic of a recovered Flexsteel seat.

he'll be adding another "DOH!" soon if he expects that plastic wedge chocks are adequate to keep a 9000lbs. trailer in place.
shocking that he doesn't have tandem wheel chocks on that big of a trailer.

They should hold just fine if they are up tight against the tires.

I agree - just what am I missing in not thinking these type chocks aren't adequate to keep FW/TT properly chocked?

I know a lot of people think they're junk, but while I can't say they did keep the FW from rolling, I think they will do the job.

I was worried the hard plastic would not work on a hard surface like cement or asphalt so I bought some rubber ones from Harbor.
They have ridges on the bottom.

Yep, love my hard rubber chocks from Harbor.

Guess I won't be sharing with the group my mistake with my new Flagstaff on my first outing, 1 week after taking delivery. Let's just put it this way..... $3700 worth of damage and thanks to my dealer, you can't tell anything happened.

I agree OC. The chocks are to stop a trailer from rolling on it's own accord, not from being pulled by a truck. Those are more than capable.

When we were kids, we stopped a railroad engine from moving by wedging pennies in front of and behind the drive wheels. Got my rear beat for that little stunt. Don't know how my dad found out, but he did. Needless to say, he was not a happy camper.

Not quite the same way as wedging pennies, but for those of you who know or remember what the old T33 airplane ( old single engine AF jet trainer airplane) was, it was said that if a husky man would place both hands on the nose of it before the engine was started,he could keep it from moving after the engine was started.

When the delivery driver picked up my fifth wheel, the first thing he did was yank all 4 wheel chocks out an threw them aside. He then proceeded to hitch up...

Apparently my wife was watching from a window. I go through the door after he left and she chuckled about it.
