Confusing Forum

This is the most confusing forum I have ever been on and if I can't figure it out, I'll probably end up leaving.
We just bought a new Forest River trailer, and several people on RV.net suggested coming here.

I sent an e-mail to someone asking for help, and ended up getting some info that sent me around in circles.

Can any one give me some simplified instructions?

Jack L

Message to all from the site team:
We have done a clean-up of comments that offered no assistance to the OP. Several comments were condescending and violated our 'play nice' guidelines. Please remember the time when you didn't know every wrinkle of forum operation and limit your posts to helping the new member.

Thank you.

What exactly are you having trouble with? This forum is filled with a multitude of kind, friendly, skilled, and generous people who bend over backwards to help and share knowledge about camping, mods and problems. I suggest using a little patience and read all you can to help you navigate. If you run into problems with your camper this is the place you probably will find the cure.

Yes. Define your problems in a cogent and concise manner. That'd be my first instruction.

Second, be specific. Vague problems can't be solved. Who is "someone"? What did the email ask for? What instructions do you want? How to traverse this site? It's pretty straightfoward as sites go. Instructions on what, exactly?

Sorry to be curt, but not sure how else to respond to such posts.

P.S.
If THIS is the most confusing forum you've ever been on, I suggest you don't ever try to sign up for national health insurance or get on medicare.

Confusing and Overwhelming... But there really isn't any nice way to present the volume of information.

There are about 8 main topic areas, then under each of those are numerous subtopic areas.

http://www.forestriverforums.com/forums/

I go to the above page, scroll down and look at Forest River Tech Talk and Motorhomes.

Under each of those I find more specific topics. I usually look at about 12-15 of the sub forum topic ares that I've learned may apply to me.

The problem is, many items that are discussed could have been placed in several (many) different sub forums.

i.e. someone is having a problem with a broken plumbing fixture on their hot water heater. They may put this in the Forrester Motor home forum, However, this particular subject could apply to almost every motorhome or trailer in this forum.

There is a lot of very valuable experience and information here, but it does take time to weed through it to find stuff that applies to you.

There are so many people with so many different types of campers. Everything from little teardrops all the way up to enormous class A's and everything in between and each of them have their own opinions about the best way to do things.

If you want the best information what you need to do is ignore everyone else except me and you'll be fine.

This is a forum not an email depository. You post your problems and get many answers, you don't send emails to people.

This forum is basically the same as hundreds of other forums, based on a template. It works very good.

and not to be further problematic at all.........but how did you find an email to send to 'someone'??? How is that the first thing that you did? Where is the email directory?

I ask because if there is one, I'd like to have folks' emails too.

Not sure how to help you here or exactly what is confusing. Drop me a private message with more details than have been provided, and we might can get you all sorted out correctly where you can enjoy the forums.

If you are on the web version of the site (not using a mobile app), then just click on my user name to the left, then select the "send private message" function. Use it to tell me what you need assistance on, and we'll be glad to help. Make sure to click the "submit message" button at the bottom of the private message window to send it to me when you get the form completed.

B and J;

When you click on a users name, you have several options of contacting that person, you can send them a PM, or an e-mail.

It doesn't expose the persons e-mail address, but sends them an e-mail via this forum.

For a new person who may not have bee exposed to this type of venue (forum, vs bulletin board, vs e-mail list) It can be overwhelming and very confusing as to how it works.

An email on this forum...........

Not sure how that works, but I assume sends to the email on file.

Thank you!!! I did NOT know that.

Yes, I got it. Thank you. I learn something every day.

I tried to respond but it said you don't accept emails on this forum. Which is, I assume, a setting. But I do see your 'normal' email address. I will delete it of course.

Thanks. I see now (said the blind man to the deaf dog)....................!!!!
