Ham radio...WOW 73's from N9VNO

Great to see others into the hobby. I had my father teach me morse. He was a high speed intercept operator in the navy. He taught me at 60wpm and told me to listen to the pattern and nothing else. It worked....now that being said I have yet to take my extra class code test. I am confident that I can keep at 40wpm even after 7 years. Can I send that fast....lol aaahhh NO

Comment to Blind Dr.

I used to know a fellow that was a radio operator in the Navy and he could receive at 50 to 60 words per minute, but only if he used a typwriter. He heard the tones and it went straight to his typing fingers. If you gave him a pencil to write it down or asked him what he heard, he was hard pressed to do 5 to 10 wpm. Guess it depends on how you learn.

I have trouble with code and never could get over 15 wpm. Took my Extra test and past the written with a perfect score but failed the code. That is why I only have an Advanced rating. Don't believe I deserve to be an Extra if I can't do 20 wpm. Just call me old fashioned . . .

Like the new net.
