Mike has done an absolutley wonderful job in putting up the new Open Roads Radio Forum site. Admittedly the forum is not for every one...if you like camping or RV'ing, and you like amateur radio, then this is the spot!

You don't need an RV or a ham ticket to join, but the interest must be there.

Like a new RV there is some sawdust lying about but we're working on that.

We do not intend to "compete" or "steal members" from anybody elses forum, but there is a need for this type forum to serve a community of camping hams or hams who RV or whatever. I did some Google searches and came up with some web sites that talk about RV/Ham Radio but did not find a forum.

And now there is one. All are welcome. We expect the same virtual family experience you get on FRF and some of the other better run forums.

Come visit!!

Well, I made a sig but maybe sigs are not retro active to old posts. Maybe it'll work on this one.

Sorry Friend thats not the same.

You dont even have to learn code now for a ham ticket so I say GO FOR IT!

When I got mine I had to learn 13wpm morse code. Man things have changed, Radio is better than I as he done the 20wpm I think

-.-- --- ..- / .-. . .- .-.. .-.. -.-- / -. . . -.. / .- / .... .- -- / .-. .- -.. .. --- / .-.. .. -.-. . -. ... .

And for those that want to know what I said try this

Cut and paste my code in the input box on this site.

20 wpm??

No not me! I topped out at 13 wpm with the advanced class. Got the extra ticket the easy way, written test only!

Can somebody get over on outbackers and esapees and push the open road radio net? We might interest them in a banner exchange. What think ye, Mike?

Ya know............... When I was in the Boy Scouts I had to learn Morse code. We used flags though. For competitions we would "enhance" our chances of wining by using these neat little Morse code cards found in the pot pies from vending machines at the high school in town (not my school as we weren’t in town). I've since forgotten everything I learned. As far as radios go............ I was a radio repairman 29E in the Army.

Now it's binary.

There are 10 kinds of people. Those who understand binary.......... and those who don't.

Radio...I posted a link to openroadsradio over on OUTBACKERS. They have a new sub-heading over there on Ham Radio. I thought it was a good spot to post it.
