Current aerial views of FL parks?

We have reservations at 2 Florida parks that were impacted by the hurricane.
We heard that the sand spit that connects the camp ground in St. Joseph peninsula to the main land was cut by the water and is now an island.

I'm asking if anyone has any more information about that park particularly and maybe even current aerial views?
Can you post a link if you have more info?

We've also got reservations at Top Sail Hill and it's also closed but I'm hoping that one will re-open by January.. fingers crossed.

Again any info or links you can provide is greatly appreciated!

Most of the effort now is trying to supply basic Needs to people in that entire area that have Lost Everything! Personal from less impacted areas are working to restore ,major cleanup and Recreational needs are still a long way off! Youroo! ! Alabama

KyDan....

I’d be booking somewhere else far away for your vacation.

Getting campgrounds up and running after this kind of devastation is going to be waaaaaaaaaaaay down the list for priority. Besides......the scenery isn’t going to be what you might have thought it was going to be anyway.

Cone Head 8020 on Facebook had been posting videos daily. From what I’ve seen there won’t be any camping for several years if at all. The new channel is deep enough for boats.

X2. The last thing these communities need is an influx of RV's.

The area there is totally devastated and people are in need of shelter and basic supplies. Yet here you are worried about what campgrounds will be open for your vacation. REALLY?

You guys are looking at this entirely wrong......just think you won't have to share the beach with anyone and you can probably get the rv park at a discounted rate...........Wait a minute! Just being a smart A _ _ so please don't everyone yell at me like you did the poor guy that thought he was just starting a new topic with his fellow RVers.

I certainly didn't read the OP as being unconcerned about the folks issues in the path of the hurricane. I think you all came to that conclusion on your own.

Appears to me the OP is just trying to make an informed decision about their own plans of heading to that area and simply asked a few questions about how to obtain that information.

Look... there is no question those folks in the hurricane zone need help and are having a tough time of it but that doesn't mean we need to ridicule someone who asks for information about the area on this forum.

We just got an email from the folks that manage some rentals on St George Island. Owner lost house. They have cancelled rentals until Nov 9 and will reevaluate. Not hit as hard as west but still consirable damage. They do not want people to cancel their plans after Nov 9 unless it is unworkable. These folks still need to make a living.

Agreed. I've read kydan's comments on here for years, and I feel sure he has a lot of concern for those hurt by the storm.

Looks like there are about 15 Florida State Parks totally closed or with camping facilities closed. https://www.floridastateparks.org/StormUpdates
I didn't realize so many parks were impacted.

It would be great if your second park is reopened by January, but if our experience in Texas (from Hurricane Harvey) is any indication, flood damage is slow to be repaired. Flooded electric sites in some cases have to be completely redone and erosion means sites have to be regraded or rebuilt. Not to mention all those trees that are now blocking roads and campsites in campgrounds that weren't in the flood area.

People do need to make a living so opening businesses are always high on the list to do (after electric & water). We had to reschedule Curry Hammock from last year to this Nov thanks to Irma (& one state park remains closed in the keys for camping still). Bet the private cg get open first because some of state parks get used for staging for repair guys.

Many of us here in FL have friends & family that have been impacted & it is not selfish to want your cg open for the snowbird season ... it is hopeful & looking forward to the future. It has been only 1 week & the shipments out of the Tampa bay area to help out are heading north day & night (as I am sure they are from all around the state)

Looking forward to recovery of the beautiful panhandle ....

I'm pretty sure if I had a shop or cafe or any other retail business and I scraped and cleaned and got back open I would NOT want the tourists to stay away.

It sounds like St. Joseph peninsula is a no go for a long time maybe forever. We're going under the
assumption that we can't go there.

We are going to look at adding days to our stay in Top Sail. Unless they are using the park for lodging for repair crews I think they are a good odds to be open by February.

Thanks for all the links and info!
