Day/Night Blinds
It seems that way back when, somebody told me that when you are towing your trailer that the blinds/shades/curtains should always be in the fully "up/raised"" position. I can't remember what the reason for this was. However, lately I've noticed that the the majority of trailers I see being towed have the blinds/curtains in the "down" position.

I'm just curious what the majority of your out there do with your trailer blinds/curtains when you tow? Up or down? Also, was anybody else told to tow with the blinds in the "up" position and if so do they remember why they were told this?
I always put mine in the "up" position when I tow. While not a major PIA to do, it's just one more pre-tow item to take care of and once you arrive at your campground then you have to go around the entire trailer and lower all the blinds. Again, not a major deal, but something I'd prefer not to if there is not justification to do.

The best thing we did with them was replace all of them with venetian blinds.

Actually, your second thread was deleted, as multiple postings are not allowed. If you need to move a thread, the best way is to contact a site team member who will be happy to oblige the request. This way, it keeps replies and such in the proper order by time stamps.

Back when blinds were all aluminum this was the standard recommendation because the blinds could jump out of the wind holds (clips on bottom rail), and the swinging blind could pull the hanging brackets from the wall or allow the blind to swing into the glass causing breakage considering regular plate glass was the standard.

This is the 3rd camper with alum venetian blinds(2 from factory) and we've never had that happen.

I'm with you. Just relaying the "why" as used to be relayed during delivery. I personally have always traveled with ours closed. Last two campers of ours only had an aluminum blind on the kitchen window. Rough road did cause the HTT's blind to jump out of the wind holds once in 8 years of travel, but no damage from it. Given the number of campers I've encountered with window breakage while on the road, I rather mine stay down if nothing more than acting to constrain the shattered glass from being a larger mess to clean up inside, but that's me.

We keep our blinds down when traveling to reduce fabric bleaching from the sun.

Ditto! Having the blinds down also helps to keep the trailer cooler (less hot) in the summer.

Big difference with the blinds down, just make sure they are aluminum blinds, and not vinyl. We melted our vinyl blinds while in Arizona this past February...

I am with the blinds down crowd. Store with blinds down to help protect from the sun and see no reason to raise for traveling.
I have the cloth day/night shades.

I like the idea of leaving them down to reduce fabric bleaching of the couches, etc and keeping the inside cooler. Great ideas. Thanks for the responses.

When we purchased our first set of day/night cloth blinds they told us to keep them up, so they kept the pleats.
We're in the process of replacing ours with MCD shades, much better product and no strings to fray and break.
