Angry Daynight Shade Issues Flagstaff V-lite

Hi, have had my Flagstaff V-lite for just over a year now and have had 3 off the Day night shade cords break during the last trip. Anyway after reading some posts on this forum I assumed that the Tension on the cords had been set to high which would cause the problem. So I decided to order a restring Kit anf fix them myself, well turns out they had been mounted to the RV incorrectly, the headrails had been twisted 90 deg and mounted directly to the RV by screwing though them thus trapping the cords and chafing them untill they broke. They should of course have mouted the headrail in special brackes which attach to the RV above the window. No wonder they were difficult to operate. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did they fix it, and does anyone know where I can get the correct mounting brackets?

We have several that are tight and we had one in our bedroom where one of the cords came untied from the lower peg. Had to remove it and restring it then reinstall everything. Don't know where to find the brackets though. I think I prefer blinds over the day/night shades.

They installed a day/night shade in your bathroom? We have TT and have day/night shades everywhere but in the bathroom, FR but aluminum mini blinds in there.

We took the day/night shades down in the bedroom and replaced them with mini blinds from www.justblinds.com The mini blinds fit perfectly, took the sizes off the day/night shades.

You might contact justblinds for the brackets you need. Our day/nights were screwed to the wall also but they didn't mess up the internal cords.

Well I said "bedroom" but since you asked, yes they did put a small day/night shade in the bathroom too. All of our windows have them.

We have not broken any day/nite shade cords but they were
VERY difficult to move up and down.
The 2 widest ones actually required 2 people to move them!!!

Some one posted here (a shade repair guy) that the most common
mistake is having the string tension too tight.
Ours were like guitar strings!
I managed to loosen them by untying the knot at the bottom and
retying closer to the ends of the cords.
It made a wonderful difference!

We could see that Forest River had actually tied 2 knots in some
of our cords in order to get them extra tight!!
I wonder if there is anyone at FR that actually USES the trailers
they build??

Loosening the cords helped a lot.
I suggest everyone who has difficult to operate shades give it a try.

I know the issues here is about the adjustments on the shades, but I thought I would mention that our local rv dealer sells an attachment for the shades that snap on to the bottom rail. This is a to allows you to use the sides of your fingers to lift the shades instead of having to stick your fingers inside between the shade and the bottom rail. I am sure Camping World has them as well.

I'll have to remember to try to loosen ours too. Ours are a pain to move up/down as well, thanks.
