De-Winterizing Opinions/suggestions

This will be our first year having to de-winterize our camper and want to get some opinions from others in my neck of the woods... Which is central PA (so let's just say points north of I-80 in and around PA... When is it (generally) a safe time to get the camper De-Winterized and ready to go, as far as safe from freezing? I'm thinking mid-April should be good, right?



Also... Does anyone have a checklist of other things to check/do while getting your TT ready for the season (like should I re-packing the wheel bearings every year? Do you re-caulk areas every year or just inspect? Etc...)

There really is know set calendar date that is safe. I try to wait till there wont be any nights to far below freezing for more than a short time period. As far as wheel bearings, depends on how many miles you tow per year. Definitely inspect all sealing, walls and roof. Reseal anything that looks questionable.

We use tax day to schedule de-winterizing. It may be possible before then but I am not betting on it this year. If the 10 day forecast goes below 32 I would postpone.

I check for rodent incursions, inspect caulk, and pretty much everything else we do before a trip.

As was stated there is no set time. I watch the long range forecast and decide from there. If you do De winterize and the temps fall below freezing you can always run the heat. But if the temps are warm during the day and then drop around freezing you will not have a problem. But if your worried about it and don't plan to camp go for awhile don't rush it does not take long to flush the lines when your ready

Thanks for the responses... I understand there's not a set time of the year... I was just trying to get an idea of when/how we campers in the "north" decided that it's time. I'm of the opinion that as long as it stays mostly warm through the day... It can drop a bit below freezing for a couple hours at night without hurting anything... But that's just a guess.

We towed the "Hubble" about 2400 miles last year. Think we're due for a wheel bearing re-pack? I would probably have my local RV guy do it, if needed, when it's in for state inspection.

I have been waiting to hook water to the new 5th wheel and make sure everything is OK. Might do it this weekend to check and flush everything, then blow it out with air. At least I will have the piece of mind knowing everything is OK when ready to use it.

While it has been nice here this week I feel it is still to early to flush the A/F out.

I will instead do the television upsize and fan install between the rain clouds.

My current date for de-winterizing is April 14 and heading out to Hershey Park the following weekend. Unless something weird happens, I'm thinking I should be ok.
