Decals, Preservation.

There are a lot of complaints about the cracking, curling, lifting of the decals on RVs. What is the best way to preserve the decals BEFORE the issues start? What is recommended and what are members doing/using to keep their RVs decals looking great.

Keep the trailer out of the sun as much as possible.

The decals on the sunny side of my 8 year old camper look terrible, and the shady sides look great. I debated about covering my camper when I 1st got it, and decided it was not worth the trouble. I have changed my mind, and my next camper will either be kept in a garage or carport, or covered.

On my previous trailer I made sure I waxed the rig once a year. In 8 years I never had a problem with the decals.

One of the decals came off of the front cap of our not quite 2 1/2 yr old rv while I was washing it. Not pressure washing, just a bit of car wash cleaner warm water and a soft brush. I didn't like the looks of it with the large "D" missing from Rockwood so I removed all the decals from the front cap. I don't know if the surface was prepared properly when they were installed but everything came off real easy with a hair drier, almost no glue residue left behind. DW and I like the looks of the blank slate, going to leave it that way.

I like the plain front cap without the decals.

I also like the 58 Chebby Truck.

decals

I was about to post a new discussion and saw this one which relates to a question I have. On a recent outing to Death Valley CA we got into a pretty good wind storm, lots of sand, dust, etc. The result was one of our decals/graphic checked and peeled on the nose cone of our 2015 Flaggstaff 28RKWS. Since it was new I have used aircraft UV wax to preserve the decals but the wind in this case was my foe. I would like to replace this one decal but after doing a search for other posts I came up with very old phone numbers etc for the parts department at Forest River. Does anyone have new ones or other contact information to get these decals?

You can't see it but behind the '58 chevy truck there is a covered '66 chevelle SS396.
