Dewinterized and Ready to Camp!

With temps in the upper 70's today, we were able to get our Windjammer ready for our first trip of the year this coming week. Inside cleaning and laundry done last weekend and had truck inspected, changed oil, and rotated tires.

Today:
  • Dewinterized the pink stuff
  • Sanitized lines with bleach
  • Replaced water filter
  • Filled propane tanks
  • Organized outside storage (Love adding new storage buckets )
  • Tested lights and electronics
  • Installed screen door cross bar
  • Installed flying insect screens on outisde openings of furnace, hot water heater, and refridgerator vent
  • Ordered 3 Maxxair II vent covers
  • Ordered Oxygenics shower kit
Tomorrow:
  • Pull in slides
  • Wash outside of trailer
  • Check tire pressues and inflate as needed
  • Fill firewood bucket
  • Load truck (grill, chairs, dutch ovens, awning mat, etc)
  • Grease hitch
  • Hitch up
  • Test brake controller and reset if needed
  • Count down the hours til it's time to hit the road
Anyone else ready to start the camping season already??? I'm jealous of those who have already started!!

Have fun kampk! Our first trip is over Easter weekend. Trailer is pulled out and uncovered but not dewinterized yet. This weekend is spent changing oil on the tractor and riding mower, pulling the decks and sharpening blades, new wheel bushings for the riding mower. Supposed to have rain most of the week coming up so I guess I dewinterize next weekend.

Did the de-winterization thing yesterday. Had a small drip, where a fitting had worked loose, but nothing major.

All the food stuff has been loaded and the fridge stocked for the season.

We have our first trip next weekend.

Took a chance this weekend.
Flushed; washed; waxed; roof cleaned and UV treated.
Beer in the fridge and ready for Gettysburg in April.

2 Months yet for 1st trip. Weather here is warm but still way to much of a chance to dewinterize for at least another month. We did put the slides out this weekend and the DW has started washing and cleaning everything inside the trailer. I will install the new power tongue jack and Blue Sea power cutoff as soon as the cutoff switch arrives. In the mean time been getting some tractors and equipment ready for the annual spring consignment auction.

Dewinterized on Wednesday.
Took a drive yesterday to check out some campgrounds not too far away.
Cleaning the roof and washing the outside today.
Shopping for stock supplies this week.
Cleaning the inside next weekend.
Birthday at the end of the month! I'm going camping!

Next weekend we're taking a 1 night shake-down trip and will dewinterize the camper and check the functionality of all the systems.

Question about dewinterizing - what ratio of bleach to water should be used and do you run this thru the hot water heater?

Thanks,

Darren

You guys are braver than me, am going to wait a few more weeks before dewinterizing. Even it's been incredibly warm here the past week, I cannot believe that winter is over here in Michigan. Best wishes & good luck to all you early campers!

I'm in Wisconsin and I started yesterday by taking the cover off and starting to prepare few items, do a few projects. That kind of thing. Nothing urgent but I'm itching to get out camping and working on the camper is the next best thing.

I think in our area, the worst that can happen is a late March or early April snow, which would melt in a couple of days anyway. I'm not worried about bursting any lines.

Getting ready for our fourth trip this coming weekend since the first of the year. Then another camp over Easter. We have been lucky this winter with the weather down here in so. AZ.
