Disappearing from Campgrounds

You donít see many of the Low-Profile fifth wheels in campgrounds anymore. When I first started looking for a fifth wheel there were three categories, low-profile, mid-profile, and high-profile. I never hear those terms mentioned anymore. I consider the low-profile units to be the last of the fifth wheels that could be classified as a camper. They were small enough and low enough to fit into just about any site at a campground.

My Terry was low enough so you could sit on the bed with no problems but nothing else. Wish I would have kept it. Wayne

We bought an 81 El Camino & an 81 Holiday Rambler Alumilite 24' 5th wheel in 1981. Camper was a pc of junk, single axle. Think it was the 1st yr they made them. Talk about a saddle on a sow! Camino pulled it fine and the trailer towed fine, but the construction inside & out was horrible. Will try to find some old pics. Must have been what you are calling a medium ht. Bedroom was only about 4'-5' tall.
