Discontinuing Windjammers

Just got in contact with a forest river sales rep and they are going to stop producing the v-nose travel trailers from Flagstaff and Rockwood.

I contacted them, through email because the dealership told me the news. I'm looking to get a unit a little bigger than my current 2016 Rockwood V-light.

I’d be curious if it’s true and why..
we’re loving our v-nose.

It’s probably a quality expense issue. From what I have read, seen and experienced, Windjammer quality and detail has been a huge step above all other travel trailers in the same price range from Forest River. They began to cut back on some of the higher quality standards with the 2017 models. They turned many things that were standard into options at additional cost to the buyer without lowering the base prices. In fact, the base prices for 2017 models were higher than the previous years. I couldn’t believe all of the manufacturer cost-saving standards that were implemented and obvious when comparing the 2016 brochure to the 2017 brochure.

Maybe they just can’t justify the additional expense to produce a base Windjammer the way they used to without raising the price above what they can sell them for in comparison to a lesser-quality non-Windjammer travel trailer. So, instead of pricing them higher with the original quality and detail that many buyers wouldn’t notice at first, they decided to just do away with the line instead turning the Windjammer into just another average travel trailer.

My take on most "Popular Units" is they Discontinue features that we Like and Add More of what we Don't Like! Regardless we have always looked at the V-Nose units as a "Step Above" in many ways! Just opposite of what GM did, they are Deleting the "Cadillac" and keeping the "Buick"! Youroo!!

Aren’t Windjammers the same as the Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite but with a V nose?

They have discontinued some models. They don't make our 30WRLS anymore according to the website.

You are right, they have those exclusive luxury factories where they make just the v-noses, with the conditioned air, and Perrier fountains (at a rate of only 6 per day). I thought the string quartet and daily massage was a nice touch for the workers, (who all looked like either Chris Helmsworth or Kaley Cuoco). Rumor has it that if a V-nose fails inspection, they just rip the nose of it off and ship it to the Rockwood factory where the downtrodden masses duct-tape a conventional nose on 'em and ship them out the door. It is such a drag trying to read the manuals around all the goose-liver pâté stains, however.

Anyway, its a sad day that they are getting rid of the v-noses. So many v-people are gonna be lost, trying to stand at the traditional 45 degree angle while doing the dishes in a regular camper. Maybe I can start a GOFUNDME campaign to help with chiropractor bills.

Ha! I did just that. Traded a Caddy for a Buick we love... but hope Forest River keeps the WJ line. I agree, the quality is better than some other FR products.

If true, it is sad news. We have a 2016 2618 vs and love the v nose. Actually talked about upgrading to a 3008w in a few years. The quality is outstanding with plenty of nice options and finishes throughout.
I hope they keep the v nose production for years to come.

Unhappy

I checked the Forest River web site (after being told elsewhere that the V's were discontinued), and they are no longer listed.

Our first and current TT is a 30WRLIKS and we love it... the quality is pretty darned good... only a couple of minor glitches that were easily fixed by the dealer shop.

We are not looking to trade any time soon, but now I have one less option from which to choose.

Or the 3025 which I would have bought but we went 5th wheel anyway. 295 Crusader, not a fan of the newer ones but we got 2013 295RST Touring Edition
