Disney Fort Wilderness in December
Soooooo, tried to make reservations for the first or third weeks of December, NOTHING!! What the heck! Did all y'all reserve spots there or something?! Haha!! Seriously didn't think 10 months out we'd have issues getting two sites. How far in advance do you have to book those weeks?

Holy cow!!! I guess we have to plan Fort W for December of 2018!
We were going to look at the Orlando KOA but friends that are going with us want the convenience of FW. I don't blame them as we love it when we were there the last week of June this year.

BTW I just checked MY email from Fort Wilderness:
"We accept site only reservations up to 499 days in advance."

Disney Fort Wilderness in December
Contact a travel agent who specializes in Disney and Fort Wilderness. I can give the name of one or two who do that I've used.
(On edit: my article on Fort Wilderness has the contact info for both of them.)
Travel agents don't cost you anything and it's their job to check 2-3 times a day (or more) for you. Plus they'll keep an eye out for special promotions. And can help plan your actual Disney visit (FastPasses, dinner reservations, etc).

Yeah, that's how we booked our last trip in June/July. Not sure why our friends and my wife are trying to book through the website. I'll relay this info (again!). Hopefully not ruffle any feathers. LOL. Thank you!

Like peterbilt said. We booked in November of this year for a week, arriving a day after Christmas. We started trying to book in October and it was full. Went on every day to check and a reservation opened up.

We go to FW often. Several times a year. If you are having trouble booking the whole time, we look at individual days within the time we want and keep checking back for the fill in days. Check often and once you get all the days you want call Disney to join all your various reservations together. They constantly get cancellations so you need to jump on the available days as soon as you see it. This works for us all the time.

If your dates are a little flexible you might get lucky. I tried to book a site the week before Christmas in 2016, they were booked solid. I just kept trying with different date combinations and got 4 nights 2 weeks before Christmas. You may not be able to get 7 nights so try 6 nights, 5 nights, 4 nights and see if any of them work for you.

We've lived in Orlando since 1998 and I'll say one thing about trying to get into FW in December......good luck! They have a few weeks a year that are really popular and are more expensive; Christmas, Thanksgiving and Halloween are a few of them. Really hard to get in during those time periods. I'm sure it's worth the extra cost - FW is fantastic, but we typically go with our church group out there the first weekend in November, so we just clear the Halloween rush. Your best bet is to keep checking in with them daily and maybe someone will cancel. Not real common, but it does happen sometime. Good luck. And by the way, at that time of year, be prepared for anything from daytime highs near 90 to overnight lows in the mid-30's. There is absolutely no telling what you're going to see.

That is during the Christmas season and Disney goes all out on decorations. The holidays are really hard times to get spots. There are some Travel Agents who can work the system and get you in. One of the best is Nancy Spann with Spann the World Travel. You can reach her at (732) 606-2078. She has a very high success rate at getting you reservations during hard to book dates at the Fort.

You can book a Disney resort only about 500 days out. We booked for the second week in Dec and ended up moving to the 3rd week in Oct and had to reserve a full hooked up instead of a premium until one opened up a few days later I was checking every hour I was awake to see if one opened up. Good luck

Thanks for all the suggestions. To go during the Holiday is one our "must do's" and I'm sure we will get there. Again, thanks for all the insight!! Happy Camping!

First week of December is that Pop Warner stuff. Maybe that has something to do with it. Third week of December is getting too close to Christmas as it ends on the 23rd.
We just got back from the second week of December. Coincidentally, I called on February 22 of last year and got a spot for eight days, no problem. December 10-18 of last year.
The second week is the best week in December. Its supposed to be the one with the lowest crowd numbers of all December.
