My Mazda6 has keyless entry and push button start. Just need the fob in your pocket. It knows where the fob is, too. It won't let the doors lock from the outside if the fob is in the car.

My Prius is the same and won't let me lock the car if the fob is left inside. Don't know if it would keep a dog from manually locking it, though.

I now have a basic key in my gas cover. Once at a Flying J diesel pump the dogs locked us out with everything left inside the truck. On my way to call OnStar the dogs came to a window and stepped the power window button to open it up for DW. Smart dogs!

Or your middle name is Lucky ???

The other thing to think about is for them to unlocking the door while you are out for a couple of minutes,,, and some one take in off with your Dog !!!
When we have to leave our little girl in the MH by her self,,, we block the pass thru with her crate !!! She just lays by the door waiting for us to return,,, just like she does when we are home !!!

On hot days when we go in someplace to eat, we leave the truck running and put something like a water bottle tucked in over the master controls after we lock down the windows.

That might get you a ticket some day. In most states (Illinois at least) it's illegal to leave your vehicle running unattended.

I researched this and if a pet is not endangered by the heat or cold by leaving the truck running, it is allowed. The bigger issue is by law leaving your unoccupied truck running. The chance we take instead leaving them in a hot truck. Law enforcement should side in favor of leaving it run instead leaving the pets in a hot truck.
