I live in the middle of the woods, Literally. I have about 10 foot of yard in all directions, then acres of woods. As such I cut and utilize my own firewood for camping. The farthest I go is from NC to WV and NC to coastal SC..so about 350 miles north and 350 miles south.
At both campgrounds I frequent there I asked about this issue, and was told that basically because of the habitat similarities, what I have they have and what they have I have etc..I was told its basically a non issue. My first trips I took the wood with me and asked the above question, and since then I dont even ask anymore.

The natural progression of pests and diseases is different when man is involved. I am not a "tree hugger," but I firmly believe in the preservation of out world. I think that than man can impact our environment, but permanent damage is the questionable part. It does seem that the "bad stuff" comes from Asia. We now have fire ants. When I was a kid they were not here and now they are. I hate those with a passion and I think the Lord brought/sent those here and they took the ground nesting birds away. No more quails here.

I say be smart and respectful of the environment and all will end well.
