Don't be "that guy"

Somebody decided they REALLLLLLY wanted to watch some satellite TV. That cord is stretched over a main road to a common use play-field.

I would drive across it several times just to see how long the cable lasts.

Some people just have to have their dish to feel the real camping experience.

That’s the whole reason I go camping. Is to get away from all that. I will admit on a rainy day we have put a movie on. Especially because we have a four year old. But surely not going to sit inside when I’m sitting in the mountains on a nice day.

Heh, I saw this on Reddit and the OP got torn up for it.

That said, I don’t see the point in purposely trying to damage any of it.

I was joking. But as busy as our cg is it wouldn't take long for the cable to get shredded. The only time we don't have a vehicle driving past our TT at least every half hour is during the middle of the week. Thursday afternoon to Monday noon, forget about it.

My apologies for pointing a finger at you, didn’t mean to single you out. That same sentiment was also shared on Reddit.

I think that Dish would be a prime candidate for the five finger discount club! Looks like it would be easy pickins!

Camping is camping not watching TV. If tv is that important rent a room and not take up a good camping spot. We do not even like music when the birds are so much nicer to hear.

I do kind of like sitting out by the fire listening to a baseball game during the summer.

Must have been race day or playoffs!

Yeah some body will do a tailhook capture on that cable sooner or later. Hope no one gets hurt.

Well guess the dish guy just wanted to watch TV, amazes me how some people try to tell others what to do and how to live. The person who started the entry must be an officer of a HOA trying to be important instead of minding their business.....

Unless that bird singing is followed by a splat on your head. DW had one do that on her shoulder last summer. I think she got more mad at me than the bird but I couldn't help myself.

Totally agree. We have no idea if it was even a well traveled or just a service road or how far it was from his campsite.

It almost could have been me. I am a combat vet and camp to be away from folks. But I do not camp where I cannot have TV either antennae or satellite. The main difference is I have road cable runners and ask the CG permission to use them so the cable is not harmed. Small speed bump so to speak. When off the grid I will trench a small 2 inch trench acrosss the road and bury.

I also refuse to camp without at least satellite phone reception on top of my verizon. One backs up the other.

So rather than pick on the person think of what their needs might be and recognize your needs may or may not meet the needs of another human.

I go off grid but have spent the money generators, Sat phone etc so I can. As long as my comfort zone minimally if at all impacts your comfort zone --> (Small cable speed bump) there should be no issue of how many times can I run it over to ruin another persons comfort zone.

Just my $00.02

Mine is mounted with a GPS tag and screamer 130DB alarm if it is moved without knowledge of how to disable the screamer. It has been tried :-)
