Last year I bought 4 new Goodyear Endurance tires for the TT...yep I said 4. Getting ready for a trip to Florida and it finally dawned on me that I never replaced the Castle Rock spare. So I took the cover off found it cupped in the middle. Called the local tire guy and here I sit while they switch that last tire.

Funny, I was just thinking about this today. I picked up a nail yesterday when I took the camper to the storage place to dump it. I've put over 5500 miles on it this summer, and got a flat on a 4 mile round trip. Pretty good luck. Anyhow, the tire place said that the nail is too close to the sidewall to fix, so I am buying a new one. I was trying to decide whether it is worth it to replace the spare which has never seen the light of day or whether to just treat it as an emergency option and hope for the best...

I have heard that many new Castle Rock tires have that concave tread "feature". My 2 Castle Rocks and the spare all do.

I have yet to find a knowledgeable person that says that the concave tread is in and of itself an indication of a tire defect. The concavity is uniform all the way around, and the same on all 3 tires. No other visual indications of problems. So with a little trepidation, I continue to use them on my A-frame camper. We're up to about 3K miles on them in the 1st year without issue.
