Dover Downs race weekend
Do I stay or do I leave? I live 10 miles away? So there is not much difference there, other than less stuff to blow around. Yep I think I'm leaving.

rain all weekend (4 - 6" expected) plus a grass field to park in plus a possible glancing blow from the hurricane equals total confusion as to whether to go there or not.

^^ yeah What they said. It is just sloppy muddy mess and the heavy rains have not arrived yet. Already seeing vehicles stuck in that mess. With boondocking only in heavy rain and strong winds, it is not going to be fun for us. We pulled out and brought it home. I hope the weather will turn for the better. I was stressing about this decision this morning. I didn't want to take the "no refund" hit. Hundreds of RV's are still there, but it's just not worth it.

I hear you on the "no refund" bit. We had reservations at Killeens Pond about 25 minutes south of Dover Downs. We cancelled on Wednesday and had to take a penalty of the 1 day fee forfeited of our 3 day reservations. All in all, not a bad hit.
How much do they charge at Dover Downs for their sites? I work about 2 minutes away from there and can see the cars & RVs still piling in.

$100 for the week. Which is not terrible but I feel like I am wasting money. We love killen's we are just a couple miles from there.

Glad no one was hurt or campers damaged. We have attended NASCAR races and know about the grassy and muddy parking. Any updates available for the Asheville area? We are heading there this weekend from Ohio. I will call our campground but would like to hear from others. I am sure the campground will say come on down so they don't lose their reservation. Thanks
