Draining Keurig coffee makers
I'm now being told by the Keurig company after purchasing a K200 unit for the 5th wheel that the internal water reservoir on the coffee maker cannot be drained...I don't like the idea of remembering to move the coffee maker out of the RV during the winter months to avoid the water freezing in it....maybe have missed previous discussion on this topic but does anyone want to share what they are doing during these cold winter months?

I turn mine upside down and open the lid like I'm putting in a k cup. The water will drain out.

Or do what I do and just bring it in while winterizing and cleaning up the camper. Also a good time to soak it in vinegar and descale it

Definitely keep it warm. Even if any Keurig type coffee maker is turned upside down and drains some water, it will not drain 100%. It only takes a small amount in a tube or low spot to freeze and split a plastic component. Suggest a list for winterizing procedures to include placing at risk items in the house for the winter.

Last One had a drain, froze and broke the pump, now I bring it in for the winter.
We also test the coffee maker before the 1st trip. Had to drive 50 miles to get a new coffee maker on our first trip when we realized we broke our old one.

I bring my Tasimo in. The kids gave us one for the house and one for the 5er. Now I have 2 perfectly good coffee makes taking up room on a shelf. I do have another coffee maker that goes with us as I use it when boondocking. It's the type that you put over the burner and have at it.

Thanks to all for their replies and to Youroo for your other post as well....probably will bring it in each winter.....I had heard that one could fill the internal reservoir with the descaling solution, leave that in for the winter months....it would not freeze and then do a good rinsing and draining when you're ready to roll in the spring.....has anyone ever heard of this being done?

Don't mess with my coffee! That is my life blood! I have a 10 cup home version of a Bunn in the house but liked my buddies Keurig so got one for the house also. Use it a lot at night when don't need a full pot.
Have a cheap B&D for my 5er but liked the Keurig. Found one like new at a thrift shop for 20 bucks so got it for my 5er. Both of them have a reservoir. My buddies didn't have that and he liked mine better so bought one for his home and gave me his for the 5er, so I now have 3 plus my Bunn and the old B&D. And don't forget the percolator for when boondocking.
Maybe I should put the one in my truck and run it off an inverter?

Theeeee one I use in the trailer will use a 20 ounce WaWa cup/ I bought the replacement basket so I can lar coffee grounds, much cheaper than K cups! I can use any coffee I want to. I think the screen fits in any Keurig pot.
