Dump Station Water Spigot
Being retired I have the luxury of using state parks on weekdays. When I go to the dump station I can usually take my time dumping and flushing the black tank, unless there is a water spigot like this.
These things are fine for rinsing out the sewer hose and washing down the area, but they are useless for a black tank flush. I really hate these things.

At a Army Corps camp we frequent near Atlanta they have removed the spigot. The reason... The possibility of back flow contamination into the fresh water system. The back flow valve kept being stolen. Bummer

That is the type of hose at most all of the campgrounds we visit. (National Forest campgrounds) This is the first camper we have owned that has a black tank flush so it's not like we ever needed to use it. What baffles me is one of the campgrounds has no trash can at the dump site. I am always tossing something like rubber gloves or wet wipes in the trash after dumping.

I have thought about having a short piece of male hose end and a hose clamp on the other end, screw it to the flush, shove in the water spout and zip the hose clamp tight with a cordless drill. I thought that the flush hose did not have the end on it because they dont want people sitting there flushing for 20 minutes making everyone else wait. Some people can take for ever as it is to dump. Not to mention the back flow that i did not think of....

I have 2 brass hose ends and a clamp in the dump hose parts bin, I filed the barbs down a little so the spigot hose will slide on and off the hose end easier, the clamp still holds the hose end on. I also have a nut driver that fits the clamp in the bin as well. The 2 hose ends are for different sized hoses.

Bob, I use the on board pump thru the outside shower attachment that's located in the docking station. Of course you need to have some water left in the potable tank and also I empty out the hot water for a better rinse, its going to get cold anyway!

That's a good idea, I'm going to try that next time.

The brass attachment usually just unscrews, doesn't it? That's what we always do when we find one of these. Put it back on after we're done with the black tank flush, rinse the slinky, no probs.

I have to agree with you. The dump station is where you dump your tanks and get out of the way for the next guy. If you want to dump, fill, rinse, dump, do it on your time in a full hook up site, not on my time while I wait behind you. Do not mean to offend but at the end of a weekend the last thing I want to do is wait for someone to make love to their black tank.

This is yet another reason I have my own dump station at home. I can flush my black tank for an hour if I want.

I guess I should have added to my original post that camping on weekdays means you will be the only one at the dump station. I wouldn't even think about flushing a black tank at a dump station on a weekend. As I said in my original post, I have the luxury of camping on weekdays. Weekends at state parks and COE campgrounds are for the rude, the crude, and rookies.

I primarily camp on the beach. So not only do you have to empty your tanks, you have to refill all 8 tires with air. From 15 lbs. to 50 on TV 65 lbs. on 5th wheel. On a busy day it takes a while, but IMHO nothing beats camping on the beach.

That's why I got myself a small compressor. No more lines ate the air fill.

I just hook into my sewer clean out along the side of the house. Nothing special.
