Dumping the black tank.

Morning all, have a weird question maybe. We have property that we take our TT to and camp on. This week we are going to leave it up here. Our black tank is barely a third full. Because we do not have a dump on our property we have to take the TT to a state park near by to dump. Your thoughts or experience, can we leave the black tank a third full for a week or two?

I would think a week or so would be ok. I full time and I’ve left my tank for a few weeks when going out of town. You may just have to flush with water or do a geo treatment if it gets clogged up.

Should be ok... although you might want to put another rv treatment tab in the toilet.

Drop another tab in the tank, add some more water and don't worry about it. The ride out to your dump location will stir things up nicely so it dumps well, if you have enough water in there also. Be sure and have some water in the grey tank, to flush the hose when you get done.

I have left my tank for several weeks half full with no issues. It really depends on the heat. I have done it in the summer and noticed odor but not so much during cooler times (fall and spring). Another time in the summer I just dropped another treatment pack in and had no issues when I came back after a month. You may wonder why I went so long, we thought we would be coming back sooner but we had a death in the family which we had to travel to and it created issues getting back. I was worried but all was good with the second treatement pack.

Two ways to look at this.

One, you should be ok. Figure how long it took to get to 1/3.........

Two, you can dump when it's full.......all you have to do is fill it!!!!!!! Fill it with water, and THEN dump it.

Get a good enzyme based product and it will digest the waste and no problem.

I use KO Kills Odor by Raritan from the marine world and it works awesome. Other similar products may also work fine. Leave plenty of water in there.

Makes good sense. If you had full hookups, I would dump it, run the wash out, and add a few gallons with the solvent. But in your situation, no reason for concern.
