E450 Dash - What is this?

There's a small black cap/plug that is in my hand that was inserted into the part I'm pointing at with my finger. Does anyone know what this is?

That's for sticking an iPod or such into the radio, I think.

My salesman said it was an input for iPod, I don't have one. Perhaps someone else will chime in.

I just went out and stuck a headphone jack in it and it seemed like a good fit. So you're probably right. Probably one of the "Aux" in's. Doesn't have to be for an iPod/iPad, just anything that has a headphone jack... you plug one end to your device (to the headphone out) and the other end into the dash and you should probably be able to change the "Source" on the radio to "Auxiliary" or something similar.

Had the chassis been factory equipped with the original Ford entertainment and/or NAVsystem, this would have had a phone jack and a USB connection or two. The jack is actually an input in the Ford system. If you have the usual FR in dash system, this jack may or may not be hooked up, and the USB connection is on the in dash unit. I think all Ford products with their SYNC system have this connection.

There is nothing connected to it. I took the dash apart to see what it was. I believe it would be mic input if you had a ford a/v head unit. I think the owners manual will show that panel with other options or switches.

How does the dash come off and do you have the wood grain simulator cover too?

Thanks for the responses. I do have the Nav system in the dash. I wouldn't think that plug would hook up to it. The dash pictures I've seen online have had other switches there of some sort.

Dash just pulls off. Start at upper right corner and gently pull away from dash. The black plug I have in the picture is just a black plug nothing can be put into it. There are wires plugged into it from behind. I have a 2016 model e450.
