I was thinking hard about buying one of these when they first came out...

Reading the articles, I think it would leave it AS-IS...

It’s only 2014-2016 not 2017. Glad not to have that problem but would have liked a check. Coming home from the beech Sunday into a headwind loaded to the gills still got 13 mpg. No complaints here.

Thanks and corrected, typo. We have a 2014 and we love it. 12 MPG going to New Mexico, a 1150 mile drive.

I was going to buy the Dodge Eco-diesel in 2017- couldn't find any on the lot. I called and visited several dealers in California, they would only tell me they would call me when they got some in, no mention of why they didn't have any. Then the dealer in Bakersfield told me that they were in a holding pattern due to the EPA problem.
I looked at Ford and tried to work a deal- the F150 is a great truck and Ford is mighty proud of their trucks--- too proud and too pricey.
I looked at the Chevrolet and put an order in for one- but they wouldn't get me the color I wanted so I canceled.
I bought the GMC and have been happy with it since.

Ford, GMC, Chevrolet, Dodge all have good trucks, it just depends on personal preferences and use.

Slightly different issue but it still is a diesel engine. My wife's VW, 2011 Jetta TDI was involved in the EPA lawsuit over emission compliance with the VW cars. Will we took the money and had the car repaired by VW keeping the Jetta. We still own the car and it runs great, we never had any issues with this vehicle than on now.

The dealer keeps asking if we want to buy a new VW from them since it is now eight years old. My answer to them is when is VW going to sell another new diesel vehicle? That is when I will buy one. These cars run forever I had a friend who sold is 1998 VW diesel last year after 250,000 miles on the car. The only reason he sold the car was he retired and did not need three vehicles anymore.

Agreed.

I had a 2002 VW Golf TDI, I put 420,000 miles on it before I sold it to my nephew. He's still driving it... has to be over 500,000 miles on it. No work on the engine other than timing belt changes and an occasional glow plug here and there.

I have a 2014, see sig, have no problems with the truck and in my opinion having an EGR on a diesel engine is a recipe for disaster. I have had zero problems with my truck and get 27.7 highway (avg) and 12 (avg) towing.

The "lawsuit" concerns undeclared instances of when the EGR is disabled, unlike VW that intentionaly disabaled all pollution control devices and did not install them from the factory. The fix is to update the engine management software to come back into compliance and no additional changes are needed to the truck. Finally applying the fix the owner will get $3,075 and additional warranty period "cover affected components".
