Elec jack stopped working

Well this takes the cake.

Sold the Grey Wolf, guy came and picked it up tonight a few hours ago. Got it all hooked up and he left. He lives only 25 miles away.

Just now he called and said the Electric Jack just stopped.......the light on it is out, the jack won't work, nothing. It started working, light was on, then bam, nothing. He was asking if it ever did that before. I said no, never. He said it worked for a second and then stopped.

So.....I immediately said "well you've blown a fuse". He said "I'm in front of fuse panel and no fuses are blown, I've checked them".

It has to either be a fuse or a dead short in the wiring that operates the fuse. He's frustrated (as I would be) because he can't get the trailer off of the truck!!! You can't just pop the lever in a bind situation, it has to be at the right height to pop it loose.

Any wild ideas? I told him it HAD to be a fuse.......especially since it worked at first and then stopped.

?????

Have him trace the Only wire that gos to the Jack, there will be a inline fuse or a C/B from there to the batt! Or use the "Crank' for the jack! Youroo!!

As Youroo says there generally won't be a fuse for it in the fuse panel. Besides the inline fuse, check where the jack bolts to the tongue. That's the ground to complete the circuit. Sometimes those bolts should be twisted a little to reestablish ground.

Quite a while. But he had owned several campers before..........and it worked when he got home, just fine.........then it stopped. Not sure how he blew a fuse, but he's happy and all is fine now.

I've blown a couple of fuses, both times it was raining while packing to leave. Not sure if there is a connection but only happens when it rains. 🤓

My kids blew that fuse once, they held the up button to long! Was an easy fix.

mine blows the inline fuse every time if I retract it too much. I have to stop just shy of fully retracted. I carry a bunch of extra fuses with me cause it's real easy to blow it.

If he had tt before he should know how to use the emergency procedure to manually lower the jack to unhook camper. Later RJD

My trailer did not come with the wrench to do it manually. And the useless level bubble is screwed in over top of hole to put the wrench in to manually use it. Lippert components are useless.

I don't use it. It's just on there to keep the insides of Jack from swimming and rusting.

Was this for me? Go get yourself a wrench and if you ever need to use it remove the bubble and do what you have to do.

Mine didn't come with a wrench. Dealer said to use the stabilizer wrench. When I popped a fuse and I didn't have a spare, my 4 way lug wrench did the trick.

I'm going to buy a new jack like I bought for my old camper. The Lippert one that came on the trailer is junk.
