Oh very nice Buck, we had a helo detachment every time we crossed the pond (Atlantic). I was a MK-86 GFCS tech so I playfully referred to you guys as "targets".

my name is david. as a young lad, the neighbors took to calling me crockett. decades later, with no provocation, the guys at the shop started calling crockett as well. he served 2 terms in congress then went and died at the alamo. im sure we could avoid more wars if more congressmen served as he did. anyway, I carry the moniker in remembrance of him...

My dad was a career marine and was stationed on Okinawa when he passed away January 1959 in a motorbike accident. This was after surviving WWII as a coast watcher (USN) and Korea (USMC).

I was helo Det on DD's, CG's and FFG's. Then I bounced back to carrier helos. I liked helos but I also thought of them as pretty slow targets. Lol

I also like the TravelinJ’s since my family’s names all start with “J”. But we haven’t traveled enough yet to go with that.

It was my call sign while flying for the US Army in Viet Nam.
I would also like to explain the patch. I don't know what happened that day, but a senior officer walked into the officers club one evening and said "those pilots thing they're Jesus Children." A pilot heard about it, or overheard it so he had the patches made.
My guess is that officer got a tree top level ride that day as about half our flying was at that altitude.
