Extended Warranty

Bought my 5th Wheel from Lazy Days. They told me to come to this forum for the extended warranty. Anyone know how to apply for it?

Here is a link - covers most of the brands...

http://www.disruptiveweb.com/images/warranty_addon.pdf

I think now the only way to get it is to send a check through the mail. They don't seem to stick right to to the 10 days, but I would get out them as close to that as you can just to be safe...

Cangrats on the new 5th wheel.

Thank you

Thank you for the info. I will get it out asap. However, I'm worried now. Lazy Days told us we had 60 days. Tomorrow is 60 days. May not happen. Fingers crossed!

Just drop it in the mail and pretend you don't any different. It took about 2-3 weeks before we got a signed copy of ours back in the mail, and the check was cashed. I doubt they will even question it. If they do, I've read of others calling the warranty dept for their model and just explaining they were not told / mis-informed by the dealer and getting the warranty.

You should be thankful that (Lazy Days) didn't say (90) days. I am surprised it took you (59) days to find this site. Youroo!! You will need to send the Vin.# of your unit with the Check.

what brand 5th wheel did you buy? some brands don't qualify for the 2nd year factory warranty.

With the extended warranty, does it imply that only the dealer through whom you purchased the camper is to do repair work? As I understand the first year of warranty, only the dealer through whom you purchased is to do the maintenance.

No - any approved FR repair shop (or mobile tech) can do the warranty work, and the 2nd year is just an extension of the orignal warranty, so same rues apply.

However, its common that dealers who did not sell you the unit will choose not work it. That's not FR's policy - its up to the individual dealer.

A FR dealer that we did not choose stated that only the FR dealer through whom we purchased the unit could do the warranty work. We did not find that to be true with Keystone in the past. So maybe your statement that they 'choose not work it' would fit this FR dealer.

Could be. Its not like a car, where any dealer must do the work. When dealers are busy, most of them give priority to customers who bought from them, which is understandable. And some dealers seem to use this a "weapon" against the lower priced internet guys. If they can't match the price, making it difficult to get service is a way to try to protect their sales.

that FR dealer was blowing smoke. there is what FR's website says:

Forest River RV Dealer Locator :: Forest River RV

read #4.

there's no requirement for the 1st or 2nd year of the factory warranty, to only be done by the selling dealer.

Have you heard or read if another certified tech that may not be connected with FR could do the warranty work and be covered? We have purchased a 2014 Rockwood Sig 8329ss and will receive in late April. So I am just getting things prepared. I will purchase the extra year for $150 which is cheap.

FR authorized a dealer to do our warranty work, that didn't carry any FR products. they were a non-FR dealer.
i know many who had an independent RV shop do the warranty work but they had to pay up front and FR reimbursed them. but you have to get pre-approval from FR.

All above correct,I add that F/R can (NOT) make their Dealers service a unit purchased at another Dealer! Youroo!!

ON the Plus side of this would be, Would you really want a dealer doing repairs on your vehicle that was forced to do so? NOT ME!!!

Before I purchased our Wildcat 1,200 miles away, I called a few dealerships asking if they would do warranty work on a new RV purchased elsewhere. A few of the dealerships asked why I didn't purchase locally and I explained it was a discontinued floor plan I was not able to locate locally.

As I type this my Wildcat is in for repair at a dealer that seems to be top notch in the little town of Rice, TX 34 miles from the house
