F. R. Discontinues Extended Warranty Program?

I purchased a new 2017 FR Wild Cat Maxx 5er December 2016. After the purchase I learned about their factory extended warranty program and emailed and called the their warranty dept in April 2017 and expressed my desire to purchase the extension. I never heard back then I emailed to inquire again in October and was told the program was discontinued in June and they would not sell the policy to me.

Has anyone else had this experience?

You had 90 days after purchase to send in your check for the second year warranty. Sorry, you missed the boat, the program ended 06/2017.

Blame your dealer for not informing you of it, when you purchased it.

If you have documentation you inquired about enrolling in the extended ward before or around the 90-day mark, a good company would allow the purchase.

They save millions by not giving you that second year.

I got the 7 year extended warranty on our 2014 Windjammer,,,,,I think it was $1800,,,,,and it's paid for itself in the last three years,,,,new fridg, gas detector, water pump, AC blower motor,,,,,maybe this is one of the reasons they stopped the extended warranties. I was very glad I spent the extra money,,,,my claims exceeded the premium.

They should have kept and just increased the purchase price, instead of making the only extended warranty option to purchase thru the dealer.

My guess is that they dropped it due to pressure from dealers since the cheap and comprehensive 2nd year made it impossible for dealers to sell their bread and butter profitable & less comprehensive products.

. . . but yours was a third party extended warranty, not a Forest River warranty, right?

Check out the cost of claims vs cost of warranty and you will see that the loss ratio on paying premiums is much greater than the repairs. 48 years and 10 trailers and never took out an extended warranty. Yes, i did have to have some things repaired, but the cost of repairs were har less than the premiums that i would have paid.

Yes, Mr Dan....it was an offer when we bought the rig....it was indeed from a third party.

I think it may be a break even deal. I bought the 2nd year and never used it. There are probably others out there also that bought and never used and you never hear from them Later RJD
