[QUOTE=BandJCarm;1173936]Thanks!
FYI, I have to turn T/H on in order to see Transmission Temp on my driver display panel. Otherwise, that slot shows volts. That is on the steering wheel lever. EB is a toggle below the Info readout, along with other toggles.
Just to be sure- am I reading this right?!? You have to be in tow/haul mode to see what your transmission temp is?

What monitor are you using? I like it and want one. Thanks!

Yeah I like that as well, I was thinking of buying the Banks Monitoring System since it doesn't void the Ford warranty but gives me more stuff to monitor?

I bought an OBDII wifi adapter (bluetooth is available as well) and using a $5 app called FORSCAN.
You can monitor hundreds of PIDS and access every computer the truck has.
This is a little more then half of the computers you can choose and then within each one you can see anywhere from 12 to 100s of options to look at.
The only down side is you can only monitor 1 computer at a time but just about everything I monitor is in the PCM.
I do check my tire pressure occasionally to make sure everything is ok. It uses the factory sensors that you can't pull up on the dash so it is nice to bring the tablet outside with me while filling up each tire and seeing it immediately increase/decrease.
Also has your CEL codes.. here is one from my wife's Explorer and it goes into great detail.
For under $25 (adapter and app) you can do much more then any monitor on the market.
The other nice thing is you can data log so when you are actually monitoring things, it is recording it and you can save it as a file for those pesky "can't duplicate" dealer visits.
Lastly, I bought a cup holder mount for my tablet. I'd highly recommend a tablet over a cell phone. Having an 8" screen is much easier to see then a 4-5" screen. Plus you can fit a lot more on a tablet (25 PIDS)

Thanks blwnsmoke. Are there instructions somewhere for loading PIDs? I bought the FORSCAN APP and a WiFi OBDII adapter, but instructions were pitiful. Also, I would have to sit there for hours with the truck idling. How did you get it all set up?

Where do you buy the OBDII wifi adapter? I have a Ford F-350 and iPad Mini3 Tablet? Or does this only work on Android?

This is the one I got, but until I can figure this thing out, I'll have to reserve judgement. I have had it to connect to the FORSCAN App, so I guess it works. I played with it one day and left it plugged in. The next day, I touched it and it was very warm. So, I guess leaving it in is not a good idea!

I'd be happy to help one on one with getting you setup but first please read through this thread.
FORScan App - Page 8 - Ford Powerstroke Diesel Forum
Starts at around post 78 and then 82 and on. At post 82, I show step by step screen shots on how to get everything going. Frankly most of the thread is helpful but 78 and on is where I start going step by step with screen shots.
If you can't get it figured out after that, then please let me know.
-------
To the person talking about iOS, the app is available for apple/mac/iphone as well. It is slightly different but for the most part you can follow along my posts using Android to figure it out.
-------
A couple notes.. if you are using your cell phone instead of a tablet and using a wifi adapter, your cell phone will not receive data (emails, picture mail etc) that requires a data connection because that data connection is now on a wifi network.
You can use a bluetooth adapter however I can't help with the initial connection because I've never done it via bluetooth.
If you are going to use a tablet, I'd recommend the wifi adapter. Here is an adapter from Amazon that I use.
amazon
I've left mine plugged in for 7 days without an issue but keep in mind that it will continue to use battery power because it stays live even with the ignition off.
Any other questions, let me know.

On Chevy, the 'jake brake' isn't really an engine brake. It's a transmission shifting device, much like tow haul. Not sure having both on simultaneously would help......will have to experiment. Ford and Ram are different though.

I'm not sure who started the whole "GMs isn't an exhaust brake" theory, but clearly they are wrong

A compression release engine brake, frequently called a Jake brake or Jacobs brake, is an engine braking mechanism installed on some diesel engines. When activated, it opens exhaust valves in the cylinders after the compression cycle, releasing the compressed air trapped in the cylinders, and slowing the vehicle.

From your link on GM Exhaust brake:
What the technology does is assist the truck in stopping while descending down hills to reduce the wearing of the truck’s brakes. It utilizes the diesel engine’s turbocharger back-pressure in an efficient matter, because hey, why let all of that energy go to waste?

Not sure those two are the same thing.......but maybe they are.

BandJCarm, I was just pointing out that it is more than just a transmission shifting device. someone else in another thread said the same thing.

I probably said it because that's probably what I think/thought.
I really don't know diddley squat about it. A Ram guy told me "That ain't a real jake brake" and I believed him.

I think people are misunderstanding the "works in conjunction with transmission and cruise control" with them all doing the same thing.
This is incorrect, it merely means that all the systems work in unison and adjust themselves to accommodate the other options you have selected at that time. ie...tow /haul, cruise, and exhaust brake.
So any layman terms....you just select the driving options you prefer, and everything will work properly and in the way you want them to with out adverse side effects.

He's right, its not. Jacobs is just a brand of exhaust brake.
None of the big 3 use anything like it from what I've seen.
