Fellow Virginians

I know Richard and Kim are. Are there others? Do any of you good folks belong to any of the local clubs? Recommendations? Richard, what would be a good park in your area to easily maneuver the new rig and break her in at?

I've had a seasonal site at Small Country Campground for twenty+ years. (www.smallcountry.com) Green 1 site. Gravel roads and some locations can be dusty on dry weekends. Maneuvering can be a bit tricky in some locations. There are a few pull-though sites that are fairly level and have decent access. Let me know if interested. Will provide additional info as needed. 10-15 minutes off of 64 in Louisa County. About 80 miles from Southern RV.

One very patient wife and one furry child who travels with us. Forty-two years of trailering and camping, and I still have a blast.

Yep. It's always a good idea to stay close to home until you are sure everything works. Good luck.

Fishing from shore can be OK in the fall. Good black crappie population. Lots of lilies make fishing difficult, but not impossible, if you are determined. Boat is best to access bass and bluegills.

Myself, the wife and 2 of the kids are very patient, and like to work for the fish, so it sounds perfect. Lisa talked with Bill last night about a trip we are planning for October up there. We want to bring our friends and neighbors to stay with us, but she saw the rule about 6 people only per site. We would be 9 total. Anyway, she explains to him that our neighbor was in a horrible car wreck about 1 1/2 years ago, and loved to camp prior to the accident. He lost his arm, and was in a coma for about 3 months and wasn't supposed to live. He has slight brain damamge still, but carries on normal conversations. Anyway, he saw the rig Saturday and wanted to go camping. Anyway, Bill is gonna waive the 6 people rule for us. I thought that was awfully nice of him.

I think you will really like Pocahantas. We've been there several times. Nice big sites, most are pull-thrus. Very nice pool. We've been to several of the state parks and so far they are all very nice.

I understand Steve. Sir and/or Mr. John was/is my father. I guess you being a CWO I should have said Mr. I will refrain from formailities in the future. You still impress me though taking you neighbor camping with you. The "Golden Rule" is easier said than lived by.

And you are welcome to the Great Nation State of Texas and my humble abode anytime. Just give me a couple of months heads up. May even do one of my favorite State Parks that's about an hour and a half away. Ft. Richardson in Jacksboro, Tx. It's my favorite close by State Park. But like I said, I've got a big back yard too.

Yes, the wife takes the girls out to the waterpark all the time. We are only about 20 minutes from there

Good for you. Late September and October are my favorite times of year at Small Country. September can be extra nice when the leaves are turning. You're right, the Smalls will go out of their way for you.

I remember my first 'welcome' when I moved to Texas from Minnesota...

Two 'ol boys'' were sitting on the front steps of the new fire station I was assigned to. One Texan looked at the other and said, "Oh boy Steve, here comes a "TEXAS NIGHTMARE." A YANKEE WITH A U-HAUL!" (true story)

I've met some proud people in my day...but none PROUDER than your average TEXAN.
