I was a volunteer firefighter for 14 years, from 1980 to 1994. My dream job always was to be a Missouri Highway Patrol trooper, but honestly, I couldn't take the pay cut...

Very, very short year in LE due to budget which was a blessing in disguise since there were opening in the FD, which was where I belonged. Early retirement after 12 years, I still miss it every day. However, being home on weekends, nights and holidays isn't such a bad thing.

Had a wonderful experience when I was invited to teach PSD at the Taiwan National Fire Training Agency 2 years ago.

Retired LE after 33 years. Made rank of Lt. and did about every job you could do from 3 years totally undercover to 6 years in crimes against persons to the balance of time working in uniform. Loved every minute of it then. Been out for about 10 years and would not go back into that profession today because of today's attitude about LE.

Retired in 2000 after 32 years with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. No regrets about retiring seeing what has happened to LE since then.
