We use a little black "stove" heater in our bedroom at home. During winter trips, we load it into the MH and use it for a little while mornings and evenings. Heated blanket in bedroom, so no need to run unattended overnight.

I have had the electric fireplace...and on real cold nights (below 0*)it really didn't help much.. Had two oil filled heaters.. Ran them 24/7 safe, quiet and toasty...(only fired up the furnace for a few hrs when I first arrived to melt he ice)

Did I mention..2 - 150lbs Rotties help with heating the place up too...

Just installed mine. It's heating better and more than other heater I had.

The CG is $100 more for winter. Pretty common for us if we can find any open with full hook ups. We heat tape and insulate water hook ups. Sometimes leave the hard pipe behind for the long drains. This one is three ft behind camper.

Thinking about a way to store under the camper.

It would go under the tv in the 29 RE. Would rather have the permanent install unless better reason. All that is stored in vaccum stuff.

I installed mine under the tv in my 29rlbs. It was just a wood panel there with nothing behind it. Measure the size I needed and shopped HD online. Found the one I wanted and a few days later it showed up. Took me about 3 hours to install and have used it a lot since. Running right now at 32 degrees outside without the furnace on.

Sounds like what I did. Took the shelf out and put it above and ran for a day to make sure about any overheating issues. Then installed the shelf with plenty of room for vaccum stuff. It was around 14 with heavy wind on camper. The furnace kicked on a couple of times last time.

Really liking it so far.

And this is bs in my opinion!
you pay for 30 amp and 50 amp service so you should not pay more even if your within your service!

Your rate should be the same regardless if your using 12 amps or 29 amps.

I was told a few years ago "Wisconsin dells" I could not use my electric wh, I simply stated I pay for 30 amp service I'm going to use it !
They were not happy so I asked for a discount since I was only allowed about 20 amps of service.
They said then plug into the 20 amp service plug and then discounted my daily rate.

Some CG are that way. Want ur money but don't use there services.

In one place I couldn't wash the front cap to get bugs off after a 900+ mile trip. Didn't stay but for the night.

Another good one was the owner was drinking and said what he had in the campground. There was double the worth of campers in it not counting TV and they charged extra for everything.

But for the most part I have had good if not great CG. Not the most scenic as others but I am working and not vacationing. The people in the CG are normally the best people I have found I would want to be around.

If people start doing bad reviews of the places that pull such crap, I doubt they will keep it up for long. A few bad reviews can really hurt camp grounds.

Excuse me for being dense but I have some questions.
"The CG is $100 more for winter." Do you mean $100 extra when you camp all winter or $100 per month extra during winter months or ____________?
"We heat tape and...." How does this work?
"This one is three ft behind camper. " Which one? I must be missing a reference.

Thinking about making a holder. Otherwise u have to shell out $40-$50 plus trip to hardware store.

The heat tape is cord with thermostat that u plug in and provides heat along the pipe or hose. I use a pirit heated hose. The 1st pic is a hose that I had heat tape to keep the thermostat outside for the pirit hose.

I've thought the same thing - with so many new rv's having electric fireplaces, how do you even enforce a no electric heater rule - or WH? All that does is punishes the honest people. Seems like factoring that electricity cost into the rate wouldn't add that much to the cost and would be a much better way to do it.

One of the CG's we go to a lot has a no AC policy - but its because they are always full in the summer and their mid 60's service can't handle the load. It never gets hot enough to really need it, and the crowds thin out in the rest of the year and they have no rules on heaters. In that situation, their policy seems reasonable.

After our last trip in October, I'm definitely going for a digital thermostat, and investigating adding a small electric fireplace.

Sounds like you guys need to ditch the private CGs and start using CoE and state parks like we do. I've yet to find a private campground that offers better views, more space and privacy or cheaper rates. My research indicates that most private campgrounds run around double the state parks. All I get in return is a pool and a game room. No thanks. I'll take the views and the space to roam and explore nature. To each their own, I guess. And I've never encountered a ridiculous rule about not using certain appliances. If I pay for 30A, I have 30A to use. If I pay for a 50A site, I have 50A to use.

Not here in Virginia. The State pk in Clarksville is like 48.00 per night water and electric only. With a Golden pass from the COE, there camping with W/E is 12.00 per night and they are all next to each other by a few miles. 1 State pk and 4 COE on the lake.

I'll revise. You need to come to Texas and stay at our state parks!!

Typical 30A with water is $16-$20 per night. 50A with water is typically around $22. 50A with water and sewer is typically around $25. All of our COE parks are priced similarly. Most are very nice with great facilities and spacious sites. Most I've ever paid for a site was a state park in Arkansas. Their AAA sites with 50A full hookup are around $38 per night after fees and taxes. And they are REALLY nice. The majority of private campgrounds in our area run from $50 to $80 per night and you have to turn sideways to walk between your slide and the next guys.
