Being in a motorhome, I have limited space to take firewood so we usually buy. I will gather, but usually not more than a couple campsites away from where I'm staying. That being said, we usually buy on site. At the tadpole rally this past spring they had 40 pieces of wood of $20, I think we bought $120 worth! I think SYE had 1st degree burns from sitting too close!

Here in NM, AZ, you can't have open campfires most of the year due to drought and fire danger levels in a lot of camping areas. So wood is a non issue. But when we can have open flame fires when fire danger is low I have been finding more state and private RV campgrounds where the host will ask you to make sure you don't leave any firewood at your campsite. When I ask why I have gotten several answers; fuel for wild fires, bug transfer, next camper might not want wood, host doesn't want to have to clean it up, and just because it is now a rule (maybe as most of the year you can't have fires). So I'm not sure what is going on but it puzzles me. So now it appears they are using the backpacking rule of 'pack it in, pack it out'.

I hope I don't get kicked off this site for saying this but there was two words left out of the constitution and that is term limits for congress and until those two words are in the constitution it will not matter who gets in the government will only get worse.

I would prefer not to mix politics and camping. They don't go well together.

I'll collect from nearby sites IF they are real CLOSE and store it in my truck until I leave. If large sites I leave it. If close I'll not tempt to have someone burn because it is there. The one after me may find a bonanza though. Neighbors are always invited when we light the grill or pit.

IMO, thats a personal choice and has no place on an RV forum... Just my 2 cents.

Plenty of politically charged forums out there where you can hash it out...

A waste of time on any forum as no minds will be changed on forums. Only political stuff online should be jokes. Most anything political is a joke anyway.

And officially against FRF rules. Keep that crap elsewhere.

I can always tell when a politician is telling the truth, when his mouth is open he or she isn't

Okay, this one has veered into something that is best kept off our friendly forums here.

As most members know, political talk that does not pertain directly to RV'ing is really a flashpoint subject and best kept to other forums and not FRF.

This thread is closed pending a cleanup of the off-topic political postings and responses.
