Next there will be a shortage of fuel filters.

When the stations tanks get really really low and then are refilled it kicks up all the sludge that's been collecting down in there for years. Which then gets pumped out into your vehicle and into your filter.

My dad would never buy gas when he saw the tanker truck unloading.

Everyone here in N. GA. and W. NC. are running out and pumping all the stations dry. As soon as they get a truck in the lines start. It's just like trying to buy a gallon of milk or a loaf of bread when a little snow comes in. People panic all the time. My DW works a Lowes and they sold a lot of gas containers yesterday. Go figure!

Both gas and diesel here in SE GA has remained the same for months. Walmart [Murphy Gas] has been at $2.29 and other stations at $2.39. Knock on wood! I carry 86 gallons in my Silverado with a range of about 1,600 miles not towing. I buy when the prices are down. I also have 100-gallon diesel and 100-gallon gas tanks at home for emergencies. I live in a hurricane zone and know first-hand what it is like to be without either. No gas, no generator. No diesel, no transportation. Been there, done that.

I just posted info at "On the road/travel chat/Eastern". Gas prices here in Albany, Ga. have shot up the last 24 hours from $1.94 to $2.30 with some stations out of gas. I feel lucky this morning while running an errand I decided to stop at a Wal-Mart/Murphy station and filled up at $2.05. No more than two hours later we had to run somewhere and that same station was at $2.30. It's going to get worse.

Almost no places selling gas in Rutherford County area of NC this morning. Finally found a very crowded BP and got enough to get home.

In north metro Atlanta the first 4 gas stations I saw this morning had no gas. A QT had just been resupplied, it was out yesterday, and was selling all grades. I paid $2.399 a gallon for regular unleaded.

Mainstream MEDIA. Sort of an oxymoron, isn't it.

Does seem an overworked term.

Update: Guy pulled up in class c this afternoon and said could find no gas in Asheville, NC.

Gas prices don't seem much of an issue when you can't find any at all.

Hit or miss here in the Sandhills. More without than with from my observation. I have a good 400 miles worth in my company car, RV is full for this weekend and my bride has enough to get to and from work, but they better have this mess straightened out by the weekend or it there will be major issues for most businesses come Monday.

Except for the little bit of additives each brand puts into the truck as it rolls, pretty much tells you all brand's are the same, doesn't it?

I had no problems getting gas in Garner NC a few days ago before they announced the not shortage but saw all kinds of stations with bags on the pumps driving home today. Glad my RV has a full tank I can siphon if I need to. I will avoid those lines and prices if at all possible. If they had just stated that the pipeline was down and should be up within a week folks probably wouldn't be out doing their best end of the world impression at every station. This is really going to hurt the trades...

All this talk about no gas, has anyone run across a station with no diesel? Specifically between Charlotte, NC and Savannah, GA? Supposed to head out Thursday morning, wondering if it will be a wise decision.

Carry a few cans of diesel with you as an emergency backup just in case.

Diesel runs in a different smaller pipeline and not the one that leaked. But....... I did hear someone say that they may stop the diesel flow and run gas through it instead. But that may take as long as it would to fix the gas line. So diesel should not be an issue unless people start panicking and hording it too.

But as with most things I doubt diesel would be switched as interstate commerce is of primary concern.... That's why the interstates and OSHA are here.
