Fishing Bridge RV park Yellowstone?

i was looking in my campbook and i was checking out Fishing Bridge RV Park in yellowstone park. In the write up it has Restrictions which states-- hard-sided vehicles only. Can anyone tell me what they mean by that.
Thanks Kevin

that means no popups or hybrids. we checked when we went last year. no canvas allowed.
we didn't need hookups, since we have a Honda 2000.

i'm glad we didn't stay there, was not impressed with it. spaces are really close together and no fire pits.

plus no electric hookups this year except for a dozen or so.

Due to bear activity they won't let you use your
canvas pull out. You can stay there but ya gotta
leave any canvas slides IN.

What do you mean no electric???
Were they replacing or what?
We stayed there in 05 and they had full hookups there.
You are correct, it's like a parking lot with trailer slides practically
touching. We stayed there because we were coming from a national
forest campground and needed showers, water AND electric to charge and AC the trailer.

Don't go to this campground looking for peace and quiet but it
got the job done for us 5 years ago.......

We stayed there in 2009 and had electric, but in 2010 they had some problems with the electric. They have been working on it, you will have to check with the park web site as to what they have done. Yes you have to have a hard side camper no canvas. In 2008, we also camped there in an Aliner popup, they first told us we could not be there until they saw that our popup had hard side and no canvas. The sites are tight.

Make life easy and stay at the RV park at West Yellowstone just outside the park. It is AAAA.

Grizzly RV Park is very nice and we have stayed there, but it is a little pricey. Also you have a short drive into the Yellowstone NP each day, not a big deal but being in the park make it allot easer to get around early in the morning for some great photo opportunities. Just my 2cent

Yeah, staying in the Fishing Bridge RV park puts you more or less
in the middle of the park.
Many people don't realize how HUGE this national park is.
The posted speed limit is 45 and it can easily take an hour or more
to get from one hot spot to another. If there are bears or buffalo
along the road it's gonna take longer than that.

We stayed at fishing bridge and each day we visited one of the
"4 corners" of the park. It worked for us.
Sometimes you go camping to "get away" and sometimes you
go to be in the middle of things. Fishing bridge is the 2nd one!

TF-Kevin, they are correct in that if you "turtle", you can stay at FB.
i agree about the hugeness of YNP. no way would i have stayed outside the park.
i agree about FB's central location but i prefer Bridge Bay to FB and it's almost just as centrally located.

FB's electrical system has been in bad shape for years and they decided it needed upgrading.

so, there was no electrical available this year. it's speculated that it won't be fully up until 2012.
Xanterra recently announced that a small number of sites with electric, would be available for the 2011 season.
there are only a few.

here's a link to the current info:

Yellowstone Cabins, Lodging, Inn, Camping, RV

Yep, we made reservation for 2011 in Fishing Bridge. Got a site with electricity. Small sites, yes. In the middle of the park, yes!

By the time you get back to the RV, I'm sure it will be dinner and bed time
