Floor Heat Register - Anyone have a good mod for this?

Not sure if I am an oddball to be annoyed by this, but we go through great lengths to keep our rig spotless and clean. i sold my last one after 12 years and it looked like the day I bought it.

That being said, the floor heating registers seem to have a way of filling with debris (even though we don't allow shoes inside and have entry mats and all). To clean it out you have to unscrew and remove the cover. Not a huge deal but a PITA to do every trip. Has anyone out there found a good mod for this that doesn't affect the performance of the register?

I bought a piece of material that is used for washable furnace filters and cut pieces slightly larger to fit in the register underside. I can then suck out the dirt with a vac without removing the register.

I bought these magnetic covers and cut to size. Then just take them off prior to heater use! Works great with the FuzzKids and keeping fluff and dirt out!

Thanks everyone - some great ideas here. The magnetic covers look like an easy cheap option. Didnt know those existed! Perfect.

Here's hoping the tin box and the magnitic cover have enough holding power.

They cut real easy with scissors! At first I wanted brown ones so they would match the floor but now I like the fact they are white because they stick out enough to remind me to remove them before firing off the furnace!

I tried both the magnetic covers and house style register that can be closed. Mag covers do not stay on well in traffic areas and are not firmly attached. The house style worked better.
