Tigger1, we have a Grand Design 337RLS, a 5er, but we're overall very happy with the quality of our unit. It's an upgrade from the Dutchmen we had. On the GDRV owners forum you could get some input from others who have the unit you're looking at.

Like you, we have had a trouble free experience with our 32' Rockwood Ultralight fiver, 2015 model but we hit the road summer of 2014.

First thing I noticed in your floor plan: aluminum steps. Our steel ones rusted out after four years. A challenge to install the replacements!

And yup, it is tough to beat a rear kitchen. Lots of counter space, and helps put more weight towards the back of the rig.

Enjoy your expanded travels. We've been full-timing for five years now. If you are heading west and your interest is in scenic wonders, we'd be happy to share some seldom visited locations with you.

This is the TT of my dreams.

The only Lance model that would fit our needs (finally!) is the 2465!


Whatever we get it will have to have a King bed in it.


We looked at several Cougars and the smaller ones looked well built but the larger ones felt cheaply built.

Late last year we purchased a new flagstaff with the same flour plan as the Rockwood.

We love everything about it. One of the biggest issues we had with the Grand Design is the small water tank size, same with most of the other TT brands. Unless you go for a toy hauler most only offer a 40 gal fresh water tank, the flagstaff is 60gal. We like National Parks and most do not offer hook-ups. Our old TT was a Malian and it had a 100 gal fresh water tank so I was spoiled.

We have used our new trailer 7 trips and we have not had any issues. We love it.

Stuff rarely bounces around. No more than our previous trailer with mid kit ch en and Torflex axles.

Looks very nice. We have taken many extended trips and found the longer the better. I prefer a floor plan with a pass thru bathroom and private bedroom. 829FKSS is a good plan.

My wife and I are also looking very favorably at Grand Design for when we upgrade in a few years when she retires. From what we've seen and read they are a quality product and you should be very happy with it. Congrats.

I’ve learned so much from the folks on this Forum and I intend to stick around.

We traded our Shamrock 23ikss for a Grand Design 28000bh a couple years ago. Its been a great unit for us. It's just the two of us, but many times grandkids come along so we wanted bunks for them. We narrowed our search to a Rockwood Ultra Lite 2706ws and the GD.
They were equal in quality of materials, assembly quality and floorplan. What sent us to GD was the weight of the Rockwood. I had a half ton truck and was trying to make it work. 250 lbs extra on the tongue sent me to GD.

We looked at the GD Imagine XLS 17MKE this past weekend and love it, but not liking the 8' wide profile. The floor plan is perfect for just the 2 of us. I think we have it narrowed down to either this one or the NOBO 19.6. I like how narrow the NOBO is but don't care much for the couch in the slide. The slide in the NOBO doesn't go all the way to the floor so changing out the couch would be a NO GO in the NOBO (like what I did there?). Too many decisions!

My 5er doesn’t have an island. That’s one of the things we liked. We didn’t wan’t bunks but our early-20s DSs do “camp“ with us sometimes so we have a pull-out sofa for one and still have a huge floor space for the others to setup air mattresses when needed. We have plenty of counter space despite not having an island.

That is why we went with Forest River. The floor plan.
We are still looking at RV's though it will be a while before we purchase again. We believe two things from our last few outings to rv shows or dealers.

Forest River has the floor plans we like, and the quality of our Forest River seems much better then the ones we were looking at.

Please don't get me wrong, there are some high quality rv's out there, and they are beautiful, but they are not what we have or are comparing ours too. Those were very nice, but not the floor plan or type of RV we are looking for.
Our only problem is the tank sizes, which could prevent us from buying next time. Our tanks are so small. 38 gallons.
