I guess I have been lucky , I have lived here for seventy plus years and it has never bothered me . Fished the gulf at St. Marks yesterday and say no sigh of problem .

Trip to Florida

If I were you I'd stay well clear of Florida...the red tides will kill you, the beaches are polluted and horrible, fishing sucks, the weather is ify, the people are for the most part unfriendly, roads are not straight and filled with potholes, lakes are too shallow, rivers incredibly windy and filled with black water, SNAKES, sand gets into everything, no culture, all the food is fried, nothing to see...nothing to do, it RAINS, poverty filth and pestilence rampant, and if that's not enough, we have a moron serving as governor. Keep to the north!!! (well...at least the part about the governor is true...)

I live 100 feet from the Gulf on the beach south of Sarasota...and I have COPD. In the past 10 years during the winter I bet there were less than 10 days total that I (and everyone else) was affected by Red Tide. It has to actually be there and the wind has to be blowing the spores on shore. Often it is well off shore and the wind has to be just right. Never saw a lot of dead fish...for me it beats grey skies, snow and freezing temperature anytime! Finally, even in the worst outbreaks I nobody ever had a problem inside the house or RV.

We just spent 2 nights at Henderson Beach State Park in Destin. They had Red Tide warnings but the water was clear, children played on the beach and no ill effects. Conditions could change but I would go for it! Rees

Headed to the Florida Panhandle in January. The Red Tide won't cause us to cancel but sure hope it is gone by then.

Florida Red Tide- cancel trip??

Heading out for the panhandle Saturday, would have left after thanksgiving, but was overruled, something about kids and Christmas, going to work on my charm and smile. A new 5th wheel would go a long way.

Been in Carabelle for a week now. No red Tide but plenty of white fog and wet rain.
