Ford F 250 with a 6.2 gas engine

Anybody out there, know of someone.. thats towing a 8,000 lb 5ver (lets say 10,000 loaded) with a Ford F250 Supercab,6.2 liter gas engine , especially going west with there rig ?? With either the 3.73 or 4.30 electronic locking rear axel..

I think IGGY has one. You can look him up. I know he has the 6.2, as I inquired about one time. Very helpful, and loves his truck. I know also he is pulling a 5th wheel.

I don't know anyone right off hand, but I have heard that engine does very well. But most people I've seen the reports on have recommended the 4.10 or 4.30 for towing the heavier loads.

If you know you are going west through the mountains, is there a reason you aren't considering a diesel? It would do much better pulling the mountains than the gas would. Certainly don't want to get into the ever regretful diesel V gas war, but just trying to get the right information.

I just purchased one, 2012 F250 6.2L 3.73 Lariat Package. I pulled my Crusader 320RLT 500 miles to Talladega this past weekend. I replaced a 2002 F250 7.3L Diesel with the 6.2L Gas. I can honestly tell you that it has what it takes to pull that trailer (11500 lbs loaded) and I feel very confortable in it. 10000 lbs loaded will not phase this truck. I averaged 8.7 mpg over rolling hills during this trip at 65 mph. Not bad for a gas engine.

Not sure about towing in mountains or not ...We are planning on going to Florida every winter from Michigan. Via I-75.. Camping some in the summer here in Michigan also..

Any normally-aspirated engine is going to suffer some at altitude. The new Eco-Boost V-6 and all the pickup diesels are turbo charged, which makes tons of difference when the air gets thin... Just something to keep in mind.

I know I am a little late on this thread but I have a 11 f250 6.2l gas with 373 rear end and pull a 2009 Cardinal that weighs 12100 lbs. We live in Austin Texas and pulled to Phoenix then to Crescent city Calif then back to Phoenix then to Grand canyon then back to Austin. We avg 9 mpg with a couple of 10 mpg. I feel this truck pulls as good as our 05 250 6.0 did. Just cheaper.
