Forest River Marine

The wife and I have decided a TT just isn't enough, so she's decided we need a pontoon boat, too. We have started the search for makes and models.

I didn't even know Forest River had a marine division and make pontoon boats. They have three series of boats.

Has anyone here had any experience with the FR Berkshire pontoon boats? Looking for any feedback....

I checked their website. Curious, spent the last three days on the water, saw a whole lot of pontoons, not a single one of these.

Luxury pontoons have become quite popular. I guess Bass Pro started it with their Regency lines. I was more than a little shocked at prices...wow!

If I were looking at Pontoons I would stick with the more traditional brands. The Tracker line from Bass Pro is very well tested. They will be having their demo sale in Springfield in the next few weeks too.

We had a Crest 25 that seemed to be a good, solid brand with a pretty long history. Ours had lots of good features and good quality. We had the four-stroke outboard with fuel injection: step on board and start it up just like a car. Very quiet, good on gas and none of that annoying smoke you get from the oil burners.

If you want the best pontoon for the money, get a Bennington.

Forest River manufactures Berkshire, South Bay and Xcursion, there isn't much conversation on this forum about the marine side, but you can get great information from pontoon specific forums like pontoonforums.com. I'm a big South Bay fan, beautiful boat for the money with lots of ammenities, I'm a little bias though

Thanks for the input folks. I like the Benningtons but they're a bit more than I need. The lake we'll primarily use limits to 10hp motors, so we'll mostly loung around and I'll try to do some fishing. Of course SWMBO doesn't want to waste room on a boat for the fishing packages.

I have been in boating all my life. A pontoon is a pontoon. The most important thing is the motor. 4 stroke Honda's are great but pretty pricey. You can always upgrade your motor. I looked at Goshen at the pontoon sitting their I wasn't impressed.....
