Forest River Quality

We are in the process of negotiating quotes on a Rockwood Signature Ultra-Lite 8310SS trailer.
Was wondering everyone's opinion of the quality of Rockwood's. We've never owned a Forest River product before and thought I would ask a knowledgeable group like this of their opinions. Dealer did say we could purchase a second year warranty for $150. Is that worthwhile??

All TT manufacturers have QC issues, FR, for the most part will take care of warrantee issues. And yes, definitely get the second year warrantee for $150.

Having a good dealer that will handle the TT warrantee issues is very important.

X2. Every manufacturer can/will produce a unit that needs attention. Having a good dealer and doing a thorough PDI is very important. And yes the 2nd warranty is a no brainer.

I bought that same model in early spring, we like it a lot.
Tons of storage, lot's of counter space.
Not one issue with it, camped every weekend from mid-May to mid-October.
We also took advantage of the second year for 150$...what do you have to lose.
Definitely a very nice unit, I recommend it !

We have a Rockwood Windjammer, and have been very happy with the quality of it after three summers and over 90 nights of use. Past results do not guarantee future performance, so your results may vary, but I would buy again.

I traded in a 2011 CrossRoads Sunset Trail Reserve 30RE for my Windjammer 3008W. Overall the quality of Rockwood far exceeds that of the CrossRoads. IMHO

On my second Rockwood here. Have had some issues more so being too picky and getting ready for the long haul with the trailer making sure everything is up to my standards. We have great dealer as well. makes a big difference for sure. Looked at many and the trim level and quality on the Rockwood exceeds Hi End models like Redwood or DR suites IMHO.

The only thing wrong with my Rockwood 5er was a stuck red pixel column on the tele but you can't really pin that on Rockwood. I haven't found anything at all wrong with the actual build.

Forest river without a doubt stands behind their product if there is any issues. While my sabre has many issues, they are arranging to take it back to the factory for repairs for me. Definitely get the second year warranty. Be aware that you are supposed to apply for it within 10 days of purchase. Here is a link to the Paperwork.

My son has had a Rockwood for 3 years without a single problem, we have owned a Wildcat Maxx (Forest River product) for almost a year and have had no problems. We both are VERY happy with our FR products and would buy again without a second thought!

PS- the 10 day period to apply for the 2nd year warranty is no longer in effect. Download the form, attach the check and send it in, you'll get back a signed copy which is your proof of the 2nd year warranty!

Purchased our 8289 in Dec 2013. Have had a couple of minor things that I took care of. Overall it is a well built unit, tows well and plenty of room for DW, myself and the pets. Do it again with what I know now, yes I would. The only real complaint I have against FR is the very cheap tires that "were" on the unit. 4,000 miles in 11 months, loving it.

I don't know if this qualifies as an answer to the op, but I just purchased a used 2008 HW296. As the third owner, I must say it looks and operates like a new popup save for a few cosmetic problems. Furnace and water heater are great, have not used the air as yet. First owner was careless, second owner was ocd and fixed some torn canvas and installed usb ports, 12 volt ports and led lights with remote in the awning. I plan to carry on the tradition of the second owner.

We love our Rocky and have noticed upgrades and quality throughout it. (It's like the people who designed it are actual campers who know what people want.)
Case in point...our master electrical cut-off switch is right underneath the fridge. I thought this was odd until I realized what's the last thing I do before I leave the camper when it's parked in the lot? I go inside, turn off all of the circuit breakers, and then prop open the two doors on the fridge. So it makes sense to have the master switch right below that...pretty smart!!
Another neat feature is the small light they have that lights up the outside steps at night. For people with dogs who have to bring them out when it's dark before turning in it's genius!! (Many many small things like this we've noticed.)

I have owned a number of new trailers and have found they all have quality control and or design issues. Go over your trailer inside and out thoroughly before buying and use the heck out of it during the one year warranty period to get all the deficiencies identified and fixed. The dealership is your best choice before brand because that makes the process so much smoother. Shop at home if you can otherwise your going find getting warranty work done really inconvenient.

To expand the topic, I would not own any sort of RV without an extended warranty!
We purchased a second owner 2005 Cedar Creek, 34RLTS several years ago. shortly after purchasing it we bought a 5 year extended warranty from Extra Ride for $1375.00. We have saved at least 4 times that amount in warranty issues. When that warranty runs out I WILL buy another one for sure.

Coming from the Class A side of the ownership spectrum with a Georgetown, now for sale because we can't afford the lifestyle any longer, I am reasonably pleased with our 325DS. It's an '02 and we bought it from the original owners 4 years ago.

Some of the design/engineering leaves me a bit puzzled, but the build quality is fairly good. We've had four good years with it and the original owners said they'd had very few problems. Our one biggie was a dead fridge at the 10-year age point (a Dometic) which we replaced ($1800!)

A Rolls-Royce it isn't, but it's a pretty decent Ford.

Considering the cost of our Flagstaff, I can't complain about the quality knowing the limitations on weight, etc to produce a light weight camper. Things I don't like, I change and go on. Things that break are usually self inflicted and get replaced or rebuilt. Do I agree with everything FR does in the design, a great big NO, but I either live with it or re-design/re-build/modify it with the help of others here on the forum. For the most part, there are some very smart folks here and I greatly appreciate their input.

We bought a 8329 SS brand new and had it delivered last January and love it. We spend almost 6 months a year in it and while there have been a few minor problems, FR is great to work with. The best part was the FROG RALLY IN AUGUST where FR offered to fix any problem anyone had...for free. It is as terrific.

We're happy with ours but it's had its fair share of issues. Rockwood is no different (same manufacturing processes) than a number of other FR lines although I've not encountered many Rockwood complaints on the forum as compared to the other FR labels.

I have had my share of ups and downs with my Forest River 360RB Motor Home, but we love it. Forest River has stood up to the plate for most of our problems. We have the sagging ceiling problem like many others, and have had some success in repairing it. We just got back from camping trip, while we were there I was in one of my cranky old f--rt moods so I called. Forest River, the guy was so nice, told me to take it to an authorized FR. repair shop, and have them call FR. No promises but they were very concerned, and I was glad I called.
