Forest River Scheduled Factory Shut Down?

Does anyone know anything about scheduled factory shut downs?

I spoke with an internet dealer and was told the Cedar Creek factory shuts down for ~4 weeks in the Spring. He was encouraging me to order now to avoid delays in delivery... said if I waited it would take several weeks longer for the factory to build a new unit due to heavy ordering for the summer season.

Is he blowing smoke?

We are planning to order a Silverback 33RL in March and hoping to pick it up in June.

Most factories do shut down, but it is usually over the Holidays.

I can't say for sure about Cedar Creek, but in general, the longer you wait to order towards Spring, the longer it takes them to build.

Over winter, they usually take 6-8 weeks from start to finish. At the end of February, they are ramping up to fill dealers Spring orders, and usually go to 8-10 weeks. If you are considering full paint as an option, add another 2-3 weeks.

X2. Alot of RV shows are held in Feb/March and alot of sales are made. Makes no sense for a manufacturer to shut down during the spring.

You need to turn up the gain on your BS detector when you're talking to some of these dealers!

I was aware of the Holiday shut down periods... but this is the 1st time I have heard anything about a 4 week Spring shut down.

Seems if it was true it would be common knowledge... especially to the experienced folks on this forum.

I'd say blowing smoke. We ordered a Cedar Creek Jan 19 and it is due off the line Feb 22. So I know the factory is not shut down right now. And as someone else noted, I seriously doubt it would shut down during their highest order time.

Simple - Call Cedar Creek, they will tell you! 260-593-2404, this is their main number.
Normal factory wide shutdowns are last two weeks of December and week around the 4th of July. At times they do roll back to 3 or 4 days, instead of 5 working days, if their orders are down. I know the folks at CC, would be more than happy to answer your questions, they are very easy to work with!

Hope this helps,
Mike
